Jason La Canfora
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkWhat's up guys? Thanks for stopping by. Look forward to getting to as many of these as I can. Okay, here goes ...
Chris, Culver City
12:02 PM ETAny truth to the Marshawn Lynch to Packers rumors?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkSpoke to a GM today who says the Bills still telling teams they wont move Lynch. Perhaps that changes as injuries mount, but I don't see it happening right away if it does eventually go down
Chris, Hard Hittin New Britain
12:04 PM ETSo only week one but how bout that catch by Mike Williams for the Bucs in the endzone! A lot of people counted the Bucs for another bad season but with a week one opener do you see them doing anything else?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI expecy them to be in rebuilding mode for a while, but he could be a heck of a piece to build with. If they beat the Panthers this week, could make things interesting. I tend to think it will be another lean year there as they assemble parts, but no one knows in the NFL. So hard to predict games much less a season
12:05 PM ETWill Alex Barron remain a Cowboy? Are they addressing the OL and Offensive issues?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkIt looks very good for Columbo and Kosier to return. Not saying that will cure all that ails them, because that OL is getting old in spots and these things tend to mount sometimes. But it should solidify a few things for sure. I expect the Cowboys to move the ball on the Bears.
12:08 PM ETI was at the Bills Dolphins game, you think the defenses were that good or the offences that terrible? You think the dolphins can compete in the AFC?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkThat was an afront of offensive football. Was high on the Fins for a while bit that's been waning in recent weeks. Thought they'd be a Wildcard team. We shall see
Tim, Skunk Hollow, IL
12:09 PM ETDo you have any more news about Hayensworth being traded? How about the Redskins shopping for a WR?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkHe's available and been available for a long time. Tenn is only team that seems to be interested .... But they wont give up much at all to get him. If Minn loses a DT then they could jump back in a little ... But again, won't offer much I continue to maintain very likely he gets dealt before the deadline
12:10 PM ETAfter trading Maroney (Finally!), will the Patriots go for Mark Ingram with their First Round pick recieved by Oakland?
Jason La Canfora, NFL Networkcan't predict this far out. Don't know if the kid stays healthy, how high the Pats will pick, etc. I expect them to target a RB for sure, but perhaps not that high. Good value most years in the mid rounds as well
Anthony Perry, Pheoinx, Arizona
12:11 PM ETYour opinion, what do you think the outcome will be in week two when the jets vs. the patriots?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI like the Pats to win that game, and put up some big numbers doing it. Wes Welker vs. Kyle Wilson. Yikes
12:12 PM ETWho do you see winning the AFC West? Do you think the Chiefs are contenders?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI still think the Chargers win it, but I predicted they fall way back to the pack and 9-7 is enough to win the division. Oakland and KC will take positive steps, I believe
Alex, Ontario, Canada
12:13 PM ETHey Jason, thanks for doing this chat. Any chance you think the Saints will move a receiver for an OLB? Do you think the Raiders would be open to trading Kamerion Wimbley?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkDon't see that happening my man. and especially not Wimbley. They just traded for him a few months back
12:14 PM ETIs Kevin Kolb in trouble? Andy Reid might need to get rid of Vick soon so he can regain some confidence.
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkThe fans might go crazy for Vick but that organization did not deal McNabb to just give up on Kolb after 10 attempts and not even a full half of football. Won't happen They will stick with Kolb for quite some time I expect him to reward them for doing so
Adrian, San Diego
12:15 PM ETWith all the injuries in week one is it possible the 18 game schedule idea is shelved?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkNope. Don't see one connected to the other. I imagine that when season is over we see the number and extent of injuries being about the norm. Can't extrapolate too much off one week
Eric, Belleview, FL
12:16 PM ETAfter Monday's game do you think Vincent Jackson will have the upper hand? If so do the Chargers make a effort to get him into camp?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI'd score round one for him for sure but this will play out over quite some time.
12:17 PM ETWho do you like this week in the matchup between the titans and steelers?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI like the Titans given that Dixon is under center and not Big Ben. It's gonna be a physical war, that's for sure. These two teams could meet again in the playoffs
Kenny cowboy, Austin, Tx
12:18 PM ETmatt leinart, seems to be a trade waiting to happen, do you think the Texans can get something for matt?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkNope. Don't see him going anywhere
12:18 PM ETWhy did Parcells step down, how is this affecting the team?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkIt was inevitable. He wasn't going to stay much beyond three years either way and he put his generals in place in the coaching staff and front office. I figure he moves on entirely in 2011
Brian, New York, NY
12:19 PM ETHey Jason, I was wondering if you had any insight as to why Coach Haley doesn't feed Jamaal Charles the ball more?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkThey have 3 talented backs there and, given the condition of the passing game and Cassel, I figure they will be plenty of carries for everyone. They aren't featuring anyone yet and have a nice rotation going
Gavin Gravine, Carbondale, PA
12:20 PM ETHey Jason, what do you expect from Brandon Jackson this year. After I found out the extent of Ryan Grants injury I went into a state of panic. Not just for fantasy football reasons (Grant was my second overall pick) for Green Bays Super Bowl hopes this year.
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkIn that systemm with a team that good and with a QB and passing game that great, I believe the Packers can withstand it. Remember, Grant was hardly a name guy when they picked him up. there is generally good depth and talent available at the RB position. need the OL to stay healthy. I picked up Jackson in my fantasy league and will start him this week
Kyle, Kyle's Office
12:21 PM ETHello Mr. LA LA, so we meet again! Are you in the studio right now? At Home? Where do you do these chats from? Is there someone scanning them, or is it just you picking at random?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkDang Kyle, you packed a lot of questions into one question. Okay. I am in my living room, Rocco finished lunch and is watching Scobby Doo. The "studio" is in the basement and the network is updating it to hi def so we had more techs out here today. Last but not least, I moderate my own chats. (and, as a pre-emptive strike: I had leftover pork chop and wild rice for lunch; Rocco had mac and cheese, which is pretty much all he ever eats).
12:23 PM ETTell me something positive about the bills please! Do you think Trent Edwards is the starting QB in week 4, or week 17 for that matter? Is a trade for Vick or any other QB possible?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkWell, they're one game close to finishing the season? I kid. I kid. Hey, they showed a lot of fight and guts and nearly pulled that off. Kept Miami out of the end zone. I applaud how hard they played for Chan in the opener. Very tough task this week
Dvir , Pa
12:25 PM ETQhat do you think of the Redskins defense so far.
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkQhard to say after just one game. If they can keep Landry and Orakpo - their two best athletes - that active then good things should happen
12:25 PM ETwith so many teams expected to make the playoff in the AFC, who are your two wildcards?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkFor our season preview stuff a few weeks back I went Indy, SD, Balt and New England as division winners and Tenn and Miami as Wildcards
12:26 PM ETHey Jason, what does Eli and the Giants have to do to beat Peyton this week?
Jason La Canfora, NFL Networkif they can get that NASCAR package going and attack what seems to be a vulerable OL and get Peyton running around, I like their chances
12:27 PM ETIts week 8-bye week... Eagles are 2-5 with 2 vick led wins against Lions/Jags, Kolb comes back week 4 and they lose 4 straight with little to no improvement in play. Does Reid make a switch? If not will he lose the locker room?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkDude, this right here is why I love Eagles fans. Love the hypothetical doomsday scenario. Bro, if they're 2-5 I dare say they aren't making the playoffs with either guy
12:28 PM ETWhy was everybody so stupid to think the jets were going to be great this year? I predicted that this would happen ages ago
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI predicted 8-8. Who knows. Lot can change between now and January
Kevin, Damascus OR
12:28 PM ETWho Suprised you the most in Week 1, good & bad?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkThe physicality and purpose of the Texans blew me away. They showed a will to run the ball and beat people up on both sides of the ball even without Cushing. consistency has alwasy been the isssue there, but to me that was the single biggest statement any team made - the Texans showing they can beat teams more than one way
mike, new york
12:30 PM ETdo you think the pats will give moss a new deal
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkDon't see it happening in season
Gavin Gravine, Carbondale, PA
12:30 PM ETWith Ryan Grant out and if you had to guess where do you see Green Bay in 15 weeks? (what record would you give them)
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkThey remain my Super Bowl pick
12:30 PM ETJason, What does Seattle have to do to win in Denver this Sunday? My guess is Denver has got a chip on it's shoulder after a wk 1 loss and playing at Mile High with the noise and altitude will be big hurdles. Thoughts?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI think that game is a toss up. Team that protects football best will win. I like Seattle's chances. Denver defense is not very good. Broncos in for a long year, I believe
12:31 PM ETHey Jason, thanks for chatting. I am a true Lions loyal, can they bounce back from that tough loss and still get 5 or 6 wins with their tough schedule or is it gonna be another LONG season for us Lions fans?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI love what they are building there but losing Stafford for any period of time is devastating in the short term
Isaac, Salt Lake City
12:32 PM ETDo you see the NFL giving you a new deal after this year?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkHa! Good one. No sir. I am tied up fairly long-term. Do you think I should boycott Total Access tonight and holdout til I get an extension or a new signing bonus or something?
12:33 PM ETwhat's for lunch?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkBeat you to the punch. Go back about 6 answeres and it's there in my response to Kyle from Kyle's Office
Lady Gaga, Los Angeles, CA
12:34 PM ETDon't you think that I would make the Jets Locker room hoot and holler more than Miss Azteca did?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkActually, I think if you came in wearing that meat dress contraption you could probably just make the linemen hungry
12:34 PM ETWho do you see emerging - if at all - among the Redskins WRs to go along with Santana Moss?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkNo one. Joey Galloway re-emerging at age 35 or whatever isn't enough for you?
12:35 PM ETEven though the Ravens secondary wasn't tested too much, I think they had a good showing vs. the Jets. Your thoughts?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkGoing against that checkdown heavy max protect offense, you can't say much, Bengals will spread them out and try to attack the 3rd and 4th corner But i think they'll be fine. the pass rush will be better and remember, Webb has the best skillset of the corners, and he could play Sun. Cary Williams comes back from suspension week 3 and talked to Ed Reed after Monday's game and he says he is definitely back Week 7. They could get deeper and better
12:37 PM ETConsidering how close the Rams played the Cards, would a 7 or 8 win season still seem like a reach?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkWish I could tell you yes, but that would be a miraculous leap. Don't see it, but would be an amazing story
alfonso garcia, mexico
12:38 PM ETAre there any possibilities that willie parker goes to the packers?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI'd expect them to look at younger, quicker options first. Maybe down the line if need be
Stephanie , Florida
12:38 PM ETWho do I start in my Fantasy this week, Matt Ryan, Chad Henne or Dennis Dixon?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkYour QB situation looks as bad as mine, I have Ryan and Jason Campbell. This should be a much better match up for Ryan. The Pitt D is tough.
12:39 PM ETDo you see Michael Crabtree showing up this Monday night?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkYes, I fully expect him to be on the team bus and make it to the game ... If the QB throws the ball the way he did the final three quarters Sunday, though, it won't matter
12:40 PM ETHey Info Man, What's happening ? Just curious, Who is Kyle ? A friend ?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkWhat's up Rebecca? Always good to hear from you. Sadly, I have no info on Kyle or his office. Do not know where either is located. Not very good for the alleged info guy, is it?
12:41 PM ETHey Jason saw your comment about your studio/office. Im from Milford, and know Dan Patrick, do you have an inside mini b-ball court like DP in your studio? If not, go for broke and put in a request! LOL. Love your columes. Thanks
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI have the sneaking suspicion that DP's B-ball court is probably roughly as big as my house. That's rich. We had to take out a basin next to the washing machine just to make room for the camera and equipment to come in. It's me, the washer, drier, hot water heater, oil heat container and AC vent down there. That's my posse in the unfinished side of the basement "studio." That's how I roll!
Jacob, Austin, TX
12:43 PM ETJason, Can you evaluate the play of Urlacher and Briggs against the Lions? Can both make the pro bowl this season?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkImpossible to judge much. They had Shaun Hill opposite them most of the game. Can't read much into it. Long way to go. Let's see if they can hold Dallas down
12:44 PM ETWhat do you think of people and experts prediction 4-12 5-11 and 6-10 records for Seattle this year?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkI think it's totally understandable given the lack of talent the new regime inherited and, in full disclose, I believe I am in the 5-11/6-10 camp.
Kyle, Kyle's Office
12:45 PM ETRebecca, I'm in the Navy in San Diego. A Cowboys fan.
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkFor all those inquiring minds out there - the scoop on Kyle from KO, revelaed, straight from the source!
Jimmy, Ny, Ny
12:46 PM ETWhat are the chances Vincent Jackson ends up in Minnesota? Are the rumors true?
Jason La Canfora, NFL Networkit's possible. By this time tomorrow we may know the results of his hearing on the roster-exempt suspension. If it's just three games, total, he has to serve, then the odds of any trade increase
12:47 PM ETHas Clay Mathews surpassed Woodson for GB best defensive player?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkDifferent positions, obviously, but Clay is a beast, too.
12:48 PM ETAll I'm saying is that there are no easy wins in that stretch from week 4 to week 7. I realize if we are sitting at 2-5 playoffs are not likely. That's not my question. I know Kolb needs more time. But this is an offense that set a team record for points last year. the QB changed that's it. How could you justify sticking with Kolb in a scenario like that if he hasn't shown anything? If Reid stick with him, in that scenario, will he lose the locker room?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkKolb is the future and they firmly believe that. Vick is part of the present, but not even entirely the present. Under this doomsday scenario I am projecting they still stick with Kolb. That's my final answer (although i wish I could use a lifeline to call Donovan McNabb and see what he'd advise me)
Isaac, Salt Lake City
12:49 PM ETHey Jason, any chance of you singing a song for us on Total Access tonight? Something from your younger days?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkWow. I think this is quickly becomming the chat that ends it all and gets Jason fired. I did once break into the "Ricola" chant from those commercials during a Favre Watch ... That's true but not sure I can work a full blown song into one of my segments Try Tweeting Eisen that, instead of asking me a football question tonight, he instead ask, "Jason, can you sing us a little something off of The Number of the Beast, instead of giving us the latest on how the Packers will replace Ryan Grant?" In which case I would go my best Dickinson impression and launch into "Run To the Hills" And if you make that happen I will meet you at the Morton's of your choosing and buy you the biggest steak on the planet. Godspeed!
12:55 PM ETSteelers start the season 3-1 under Dixon.. what are the odds???
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkIt could happen, Even 2-2 would be fine. Either way, though, it's Big Ben's team
12:55 PM ETJason, paper or plastic? Go
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkNeither. Lauren has those like hybrid deals. You know the BYOB mesh/stringy kind of bags you take with you?
Ahorn Davinski, Cincy
12:57 PM ETMark Sanchez is a __________ quarterback. He will be in the league for ________ years. My 9 year old girl is more accurate than him :)
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkOh great, madlibs. Awesome. Haven't played this in years First answer: struuuggglliinng Second answer: 15 Give the kid time. It's brutal right now - check out my NFL.com on Thurs for more on this situation - but remember he barely played in college and he's still a baby. He will he fine, but it's going to take time
TJA, KC MO
12:58 PM ETHey man if you are going to be in Kansas City this season we should get some barbecue.
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkFo shizzle. I'm in. Meat and BBQ sauce never a bad thing. Not sure if I will be there but hope to get a chance to see the new and improved Arrowhead
12:59 PM ETWhat do you know about the Packers newest running back Dimtri Nance?
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkHmm, Well, I know that if you flipped the first letters of his name, he'd be Nimitri Dance? Does that count for something? That should be the name of his end zone celebration ... if guys were still allowed to have elaborate choreographed celebrations Na, seriously. They think he fit their system, worth taking a shot on a young practice squad guy. packers front office is top notch and they have a good eye for talent - with the move to getting Grant in the first place pointing to that.
Jason La Canfora, NFL NetworkWell my friends, my time is up. Wish I could stay longer. We seemed to be really hitting it off this week. Anywho, you can always find me on Twitter, so for all I could not get to, bombard me over at @JasonLaCanfora. Look forward to catching up next week and thanks as always for checking in. Cheers.
