Moderator Image 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ETWarren Sapp 54 comments
NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp, a 13-year NFL veteran, seven-time Pro Bowler and one-time Dancer with the Stars, was back to chat live with you on Thursday, April 9.

  • Ray, California

    2:05 PM ET

Who do you think is going number one?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

The QB Stafford. Easy. But there's no such thing as a safe pick in the NFL.
  • Greg S., L.A.

    2:06 PM ET

What's up Warren! It's always great to see you here w/ us plain folk. Warren any idea on who the Raiders will choose, who would you choose? Raji for defense?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

My people in Raider land are talking about picking something crazy like a safety. So don't be surprised if they do something you don't like in Oakland.
  • Dan, Socal

    2:07 PM ET

    Creamy or crunchy penutbutter?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Neither nor. Not a peanut butter fan at all Dan. Not in the South, it's so hot, you'd choke yourself. See, in the South, we call that a Choke Sandwich. There's always a lot more peanut butter in the house than jelly, because all the sweet stuff goes fast.
  • Taylor, Toronto

    2:08 PM ET

What do you think of Canadian Football?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

I think it's a fun thing to watch, being that the field is that wide. The wide-open offenses are cool, but I wouldn't want to be out there. Too much field to cover. Plus, it's cold! That's no place for a Florida guy to even think about football.
  • Prugar, PA

    2:10 PM ET

Any plans to return from retirement? And what QB do you think is better stafford o4r sanchez?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

    LOL!

I think Sanchez is more of a gambler type. Stafford is more of a traditional drop-back type. Sanchez is more of a gun-slinger like Favre was. If it's my pick, I'm going with Stafford. I don't like the University of Spoiled Children!
  • Greg S., L.A.

    2:11 PM ET

What can i do to be a stud like you? My wife loves you and thinks you're a teddy bear. Any tips for an average joe like myself?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Go to your local dance hall, learn the Cha-Cha, the Tango and the Salsa, and then take your wife out to dance, and she'll forget all about me, Greg.
  • Jose Ramirez, Virginia

    2:13 PM ET

will the Philadelphia eagles get Chad Johnson?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

You know what? No. But why not? The last time they had a No. 1 receiver, they end up in the Super Bowl. I don't see what that organization is doing with their money ... guess they've been spending it all on cheese steaks.
  • Derek, Minnesota

    2:14 PM ET

Who is your favorite current NFL player?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Andre Johnson. If I was paying money to go see someone play, it would be him.

If you have any questions about how good Andrew Johnson is, check fourth-and-10 against the Dolphins. Whooooo! You gotta see that play. I've been watching football a loooong time. It was fourth-and-10! He stepped up and grabbed the ball from between two DBs. Plus, he's a kid from The U, too.

A safe bet to pick the Florida boy.
  • Stuart, Richardson, TX

    2:16 PM ET

What is the most important factor for being successful in the NFL as a 4-3 DT? Size? Speed? Strength? Intelligence? Technique?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

All of the above, and start with the intelligence. Then go to the speed and quickness. Those are things you can't teach. Then the ability to have loose hips. I don't know what that means, but my coach told me that's what I had. If you have those things, then get down in there. It has nothing to do with size.
  • Eric, CA

    2:17 PM ET

So what team do you think brett favre will playing for when he comes out of retirement this season
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

It's called the Honey-Do's. He won't be leaving Mississippi. Deanna has a list .... honey-do this, and honey-do that. He'll be playing for the Deanna Favre's. Honey go get the kids. Honey go to the store. Trust me. That's where Favre will be.
  • Niklas S, Stockholm, Sweden

    2:20 PM ET

Hi Warren, Love to read your chats! What made you the best DT in the NFL? What did you have that nobody else had?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

I don't think it's something that someone else didn't have. But what I believe made me the player that I was, was God-given ability. I won the gene pool. God gave me some abilities that I was lucky to have.

I thought my craft was everything that I needed and wanted and I worked on it. Luck is when opportunity meets preparation, right?
  • Chad, Custer, SD

    2:22 PM ET

Do you think chicago gave up to much for cutler?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Nope. I think that Denver didn't do enough to keep him.
  • Michael, Scotland

    2:23 PM ET

Best defensive lineman you ever played alongside?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

I played beside Reggie White during my first Pro Bowl in 1998. Doesn't get any better than that. I played on the line with me, White, Johnny Randle and Chris Doleman. I thought to msyelf, "Man, I wish I could take this back to Tampa."

Those were the dream days back then, my first Pro Bowl. Cortez Kennedy, Chester McGlockton. Deion Sanders was there. I got to play with my childhood heroes of the game.
  • bryan, Bergen , NJ

    2:27 PM ET

Why are your chats so good ?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Because my man has magic fingers.
  • Travis McClellan, Clermont Florida

    2:27 PM ET

Which are you more surprised of, Tampa Bay cutting Derrick Brooks or keeping Ronde Barber?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Both. You're telling me that the Bucs are about to lineup for the 2009 season without Derrick Brooks? They've lost their minds.
  • Andrew, Scotland, U.K.

    2:29 PM ET

Hey dude, loved your work in Tampa. I'm visting Florida at the end of May for a couple of weeks. What three things do you suggest I do while I'm there?? Thanks!
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Florida? Florida is a big state.

Go to Miami, and see South Beach. You must go to Emeralds and eat, and Prime 112 Italiano, it's wonderful. Go to Wet Willies in the afternoon.

If you're in Orlando, it's always an adventure. But if you're anywhere in FLA, just go anywhere and fish.

Oh, and I love Edinburgh, Scotland, btw.
  • House, Baltimore

    2:31 PM ET

Godfather or Scarface? Who in your opinion, in the league today, would be a nightmare to face at game time?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Scarface. Fly Pelican fly! Look at the Pelican fly!

Wow. Peyton Manning on offense. I like Mario Williams. I really like him. I really like how he rushes from both sides, and you just can't find that combinatino of size and speed in one package. That's a young, powerful young man with a whole franchise around him. They just need a few pieces around him. I love him.

And I love Albert Haynesworth, too, when he's healthy.
  • Jim, Canada

    2:34 PM ET

In the Burmeister and Wyche chats yesterday they were both asked which NFL analyst would be the toughest in hand to hand combat. Seemingly they both think Mayock could kick your butt. What are you gonna do to change their minds in this? Is there a Sapp vs Mayock cagefight in the future?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Sign me up. Make sure you got the cameras rolling. One-handed? Or can I use two? Because they might have to make this a handi-capped match. Are we talking about one guy? You sure they don't need two?

Oh yeah, I'm just a teddy bear. I'll lose. Did I come in second again?

I drink my Acqui shakes every day with Pineapples. C'mon with it!
  • Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Hey NFL Chat Nation, I need you to support Lawrence Taylor on Dancing with the Stars. We need to unite togther to support NFL Nation on the show! NFL Nation Unite!!
  • Jordan , Fayetteville, NC

    2:39 PM ET

I want Pat White in a Jaguars uniform. Our GM and several coaches were asked to name a player that would make an immediate impact on our team and they all said Pat White? Why would he be a good fit as a WR/Wildcat/QB on our team?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

You know what, anyone that gives them a quality QB. Have you watched this young man throw the ball? Good fit.

I love Pat White. Anyone who doesn't take him is a fool.
  • aaron, texas

    2:40 PM ET

Who has the best shot at winning the superbowl this year? Please say Giants
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Can I at least see a schedule? I know we're 24/7 here at NFL Network, but c'mon! I know baseball is like watching paint dry ... but it's April! The NBA playoffs will be good. That's what we'll be watching ... stay tuned.
  • Ramsey, Fort Myers, FL

    2:42 PM ET

Dhani Tackles the World.........What about Sapp?????? anything likes this in the future for you like Sapp Vs. Food or Sapp VS World??? come on lol
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Something is in the lab as we speak! Dhani Jones tackles the world? Are you kidding? I'm calling my agent right now ... that's why I have two phones.
  • Chuck Hicks, Sioux Falls SD

    2:44 PM ET

I read some time back that you was going to work with Tommie Harris this off season, is that true and if so how is he doing?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

He won't even return my calls! Picture that with a kodak! We don't even get down like that.
  • David, Scotland

    2:45 PM ET

Warren, be careful about saying you love either Edinburgh or Glasgow, you may not be aware of the fierce rivalry between the two and could lose some fans here.

P.s. I'm from Edinburgh, so cheers mate
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Nah, I just love Edinburgh because my man lives there. I don't even know what Glasgow is.
  • Bob, Troy,mi

    2:46 PM ET

Warren, what do you think of Jim schwartz new lions coach?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Let's hope he can bring some of those guys from the Titans with him and get that thing jump-started. Good luck.
  • Cody T, Wisconsin

    2:47 PM ET

Hey warren of the two vikings DTs which one do you think is better kevin williams or pat williams?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Kevin Williams can do more, but Pat Williams has no equal in what he does in stopping the run. They're equal in what they do effectively. They're like the Road Warriors -- Animal and Hawk. They get it done. I wish I wold have had an Animal next to me. I still won a Super Bowl.
  • Bob, MI

    2:48 PM ET

Warren, what do you think the lions record will be next season?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Ummmmm.... five wins. I'll go half of Kitna's 10.
  • Raiferfan, Virginia

    2:49 PM ET

Tell us Warren how do you really feel about Al Davis?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

One of the true legends of the game. It was an absolute pleasure to play for the man. The only thing is, I wish I could have won more for him. He embodies everything that the NFL is. He's unmistakable. Recognize greatness when you see it, because it won't be around too much longer. I love Al.
  • Scott, Moscow, ID

    2:51 PM ET

NFL Network hiring?? I need a job, broke with 3 kids. Will you put in a word for me?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

No doubt about it Scott. I got you. I'm lucky to have a job. You know who many how many old, 37-year-old ex-defensive tackles there are out there? I'm lucky, man.

Really, go check out Monster. Seriously. Do it. This is called promoting the sponsors!
  • Leon, the Netherlands

    2:53 PM ET

Warren, what are your thoughts on Devin Hester?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

The Chicago Bears should put better people around him to block ... then he'll be the returner he was before. But he's grown by leaps and bounds as a receiver.

But I don't agree by moving him around to different positions. The NFL is a situational game. By having him bounce around, sometimes the matchups don't benefit you. He'll be a baller wherever they leave him. They just gotta let him do it. They've lost so many special teams guys ... it's really hurt him. He's special, but you're only as good as the people around you. It's a team thing.
  • Jump, ST GEORGE, UT

    2:55 PM ET

Do you think Cable is a good enough coach to lead the raiders?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Tom Cable couldn't lead the Raiders to a picnic in his own back yard.
  • Tracie, Georgia

    2:56 PM ET

Am I the only female that comes to these live chats LOL You'd think they would all be lining up at the chance to converse with you haha
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Hey baby! Glad you stopped by to say hello.
  • Claude, Moncton, Canada

    2:57 PM ET

Warren, do you think Marvin Harrison still has anything left to offer outside of Indy? I'm a huge Chargers' fan and I heard they may give him a shot.
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Yeah he does have some left, but how much? I don't know. I wouldn't want to be the team that has to pay to find out.
  • Kevin, Baltimore

    2:58 PM ET

In your 'objective' opinion, is Ray Lewis the best linebacker ever?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Not ever. He's in the conversation in a league that's 90 years old this year, that's nice. That's real nice. That's nice to be brought up in that conversation ... there's only like 250-ish people in the Hall of Fame right now. That's why there's less than 300 in the HOF. He'll be one of those.
  • Terry Rucks, Albany, Georgia

    3:01 PM ET

Hello Mr. Sapp, who would you rather have on your team? Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Andre Johnson. Look at the numbers. Don't get excited, because the playoffs are a unique vehicle ... they put you in every living room across the country when nothing else is on. Andre Johnson has not yet had the opportunity with the Texans. People will see what I've seen all along.

I've seen Jerry Rice in every way possible ... and Andre Jonson? MY GOODNESS. Let's see what happens. Whoooo. This kid has it all.
  • Bryan Frank, Camp Liberty, Iraq

    3:03 PM ET

Hey Warren, when you coming out to visit the troops??
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

You know what? As soon as the USOC calls my people, get the C-31 ready. I'm ready. Let's take off. Ready to go see the big boys. I've got all the love and support for the people who stand on the front lines. We need you on that front wall. Thank you!
  • Mike, Little Rock, AR

    3:05 PM ET

Do you think it's a good idea for the Dolphins to bring Jason Taylor back after having so much success last season without him?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

I think the one thing about it is that you can never have enough good players on your team. It was unfortunate that he ever left in the first place. It was tough that Dancing with the Stars might have gotten inbetween them. But why not? Throw down Jason Taylor on the other side from Porter? 99 and 55? Let 'em go man!
  • Josh, Floida

    3:06 PM ET

What was your favorite pass rush move?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

I called it the "Walter People's Special." He was one of the Tuskegee Air Men, and the first black fighter pilots during WWII. And they never lost any bombers during their runs. He used to call it that when he was flying the planes, because he would make it up as he goes. Same here. The Walter People's Special baby.
  • ramon , socal

    3:09 PM ET

do you think michael vick is going to play another nfl game in his life?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Yes. And very soon. The one thing about this game, it doesn't wait for people. It doesn't wait and see how you feel today. It's raw. I hope he's ready for it. This league will gobble you up, and throw you out. That's why the average career is three or four years.
  • Russell, Spokane, WA

    3:11 PM ET

Who is your favorite fellow total access former player analysis do you enjoy working with or having fun with?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Marshall Faulk, Rich, Deion ... Franny Charles. Scott Hanson.
  • Doug,, Louisville, KY

    3:12 PM ET

Sup Warren? Which defensive end do you prefer? Dwight Freeney or Richard Seymour?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Freeney if I'm rushing the passer, Seymour if I'm playing a 3-4 defense. Each fits the bill. Just different systems.

Freeney on third downs. Seymour on first downs. Done deal.
  • Matthew, Edmonton

    3:13 PM ET

Matt Cassell or Jay Cutler? Who ya got?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

    I got Cutler.
  • Bob, MI

    3:14 PM ET

Warren, who is the most overrated player in the NFL?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Roy Williams on the Cowboys. Was he worth all those picks, and then causing T.O. to be released? A one, a three, a six, and a Hall of Famer?

That's a big load to carry in Big D, right?
  • Terry, Buda Tx

    3:16 PM ET

Warren whats good? Do you think Dallas cutting T.O. was a good move or bad move? I woulda let Garret go. What would you have done?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

It's not my move, it's their move. So here you go ... but you just took 38 touchdowns over the last couple of seasons off the field. How do you replace that? You never know what you have till it's gone.
  • Abdi, San Diego, CA

    3:17 PM ET

How do you think LT is going to do next year?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

He'll bounce back. Nothing like a hungry lion on the hunt. A healthy, hungry lion. That should be his priority to get healthy. And, if they're smart in San Diego, they'll split time with he and Sproles. But we'll have to see. I'm not sure if it wil work -- there's not enough touches to go around.
  • Jeff, Broken Arrow, OK

    3:19 PM ET

We just destroyed 90 chicken wings. How many can you eat?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Who is we? And, how many is we? I'm good for a good 35. Right around there. About 35. I like plain, though. Ranch dressing. The lemon pepper ones are good. Try those at the Wing Stop. Maybe they'll give us a deal now.
  • Alex Machikas, Philadelphia

    3:20 PM ET

Do you think allowing Brian Dawkins to leave Philly was a good idea?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

No. The Eagles may be the dumbest franchise ever. They never spend money on anything worthy of anything. They let all the good players leave. That's why they never win.
  • Colton D, MS

    3:21 PM ET

Who would you rather have leading your team to the Super Bowl... Peyton Manning or Tom Brady?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

If my team was all they way to the Super Bowl, it could be you, Colton. The SB is rarified air. You start with 32, and only one team leaves. You have to be unique. Having had the chance to play in one, and win one, who is leading? Doesn't matter. Remember, Jeff Hostetler led the Giants.
  • Shane, New Mexcio

    3:23 PM ET

Is Patrick Willis the next Mike Singletary?
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

There's only one Mike. There's only one Samari Mike. Let's see if we can get him a little pineapple in his diet before we start putting him up with the best who have ever played this game.
  • jeremy, indiana

Come on Sapp....please...i'm dying to hear your honest, no punches held, verdict on McNabb
    Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

One of the finest QBs who has ever played in the NFL. And just for a stat, he has the fewest picks per attempt in the history in the NFL. And we all know what interceptions do -- they kill your chances of winning. He has 90 INTs in over 4,300 passes. Whew!
  • Warren_sapp_40x55

    Warren Sapp, NFL Network

Aight people. We covered a lot of ground today. You know I love when you visit. See you again soon. Warren.
