Good afternoon NFL fans! One week from tonight we open our NFL Network schedule in SF with the Niners hosting the Bears. I am excited to be joined by Matt Millen this season. I am looking forward to answering as many questions as I can get to over the next 30 minutes...Are you ready for some football?

Sharpe, if that is you, I miss you on Sirius. But you are doing a great job on CBS every Sunday. The clothes are as Sharpe as ever

Hello Bob...with Brady being "back" and the offense seeming to kick into all 4 cylinders, do you think they have a shot at winning the Big One this year?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Jason, I always have faith in the Patriots as long as Coach Belichick is running the show. Tom Brady is rounding into form. When you look at their losses, you can tell that he was a bit off. As he gets hot it will certainly help a younger defense.

Bob - What are your thoughts on the Cowboys chances Sunday night? And do you see Romo tossing it out to Williams at all? ;)
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Mark. The Cowboys need to pound that rock! Ride those running backs. It put's Romo in great down and distance. If they don't force it to Williams they should be okay. Long gone are the days of forcing the football to one guy. Hit the open man. And Miles Austin knows how to get open.

WILL THE NFL COME TO CANADA?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Andy...It is coming to Toronto. Thursday December 3rd on NFL Network vs the Jets.
  • Jeremiah, Utah

    2:08 PM ET

Hey Bob..How do you think Josh Freeman will do this weekend for the Bucs? and do you feel like the Bucs have given up and are playing for the #1 overall pick?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Jeremiah, I like what the Bucs are doing with Freeman. They let the veteran start the season. Josh Johnson got his turn. Now off the bye you ride the rookie the rest of the way. This team isn't going to the playoffs so let's get the process started now.
  • paul zelenski, scranton pa

    2:09 PM ET

W/the 49ers ridden w/injurys how do you think there season will end
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Paul, they need to "hold the fort right now" due to injuries. They HAVE to ride the running game against Tenn this week and even Thursday vs Chicago. I am not ruling them out by any stretch.
  • David, Atlanta

    2:11 PM ET

Hey Bob, what will it take to turn the Detroit Lions around and is Jim Schwartz the right guy for the job?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

David, they are on the right path. This is not going to happen quickly. I believe in what they want to accomplish as a football program. You have the QB and a WR. Now concentrate on building the offensive and defensive lines this off season. Jim is the perfect guy for this job.
  • Pat (Patman)McVeigh, Chatham , New Jersey

    2:13 PM ET

Big Bob what is the difference between the first 5 weeks of the G-men's season and the last 3 weeks and when is Steve Smith gonna be a fantasty stud again???
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Pat-Man. The Giants need to start doing the simple things. I know it sounds boring but that is the best way to. Carl Banks told me yesterday that when his Giants hit a rough patch. Parcells would scale things back and make sure that the little things were executed properly. Then you build off that. Right now everybody is trying to make big plays on both sides of the ball and it is creating bad plays. Steve Smith knows how to get open on 3rd downs so stick with him. What no Steelers question. You may live in my hometown but I know that your heart is in Pittsburgh with you Steelers.
  • Tom, Vegas

    2:17 PM ET

Bob, You didn't answer the Cowboys question! Do they have a chance? I think the Eagles are too strong on the lines and too fast, you?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Tom. The Eagles played great last week. But Jacobs had some success running the ball. You need to keep the game at a score where you can pound the rock. Remember, the Eagles did lose at Oakland.

    2:19 PM ET

are you related to greg papa of the raiders?

Andy, no relation to Greg. But he is a great guy. TOUCHDOWN RAAAIIIDERS!!!!!!!
  • carmen, cleveland

    2:19 PM ET

Hey bob, What do you think of the RB situation in Houston? Will Slaton see another week on the bench or will he split carries with Moats?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Carmen. Randy Cross and I talked about this morning on our Sirius NFL Radio show. When you play against the Colts you cannot waste possessions. That means not turning it over. If Moates gives you ball security that's the way to go. But Steve Slaton will bounce back and he will get his touches. The coaching staff may have a plan but you also need to adjust as you go.
  • Vincent Jackson, San diego

    2:23 PM ET

Do you really think Corey Webster can shut me down??!?

Vincent. You're too good to shutdown. It's about containing you! See you Sunday in NJ and Christmas night on NFLN!
  • Adam, Myrtle Beach, SC

    2:24 PM ET

Give me some real talk, Mr. Papa. Do you think the Carolina Panthers have a real opportunity to come back within their division, starting with a win against New Orleans this Sunday?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Jake Delhomme is 8-2 vs NO. That's the good news. But he hasn't faced a New Orleans team with this type of defense. Love the win last week in Arizona. Darren Sharper is the glue to that secondary. Plus I love what Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer have done. Carolina must shorten the game with their running attack and Peppers needs a huge day. A win puts them in the equation, no doubt.
  • Andrew, Texas

    2:27 PM ET

You said that Dallas should "ride the runningbacks" this week during the eagles but what about a 4 wr set? As proven over the last few weeks all the boys recievers have sufficient talent. Even Hurd and Ogletree got touches and the eagles no longer have Dawkins
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Andrew. That opens up your passing game. Make them commit an extra man in the box and now you have Austin one on one and who is going to cover Jason Witten?
  • JT, Davie

    2:29 PM ET

Papa, You know I have had a good carreer against Brady. We win this week and be 4-0 in AFC EAST
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

JT no question about that. Say hey to my man Akin Ayodele. Class act. Miami is still in my playoff picture. Say hey to Guge as well. If you really are Jason Taylor you know who I mean.
  • jon, long island

    2:31 PM ET

do you think that we have overrated the talent on the giants' offensive and defensive lines. we are supposed to have the superior personnel but have been outplayed
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Jon I think the o-line can play better than they have so far. They have set a high bar the past few years. As for the defensive line, with Canty hurt and the loss of Jay Alford in camp, I think it has effected them a bit. They have guys that are proven winners so you have to believe they will get it going.
  • Shane, Los Angeles, CA

    2:34 PM ET

NP What do you think of starting a listing for MVU (Move Valuable Unit)? The skill positions of QB, WR, and RB almost always receive the most attention in the MVP watch (justifiably since they handle the ball the most), but collectively, units that make a big difference in the game rarely receive MVP consideration. My recommendation is to group them as follows: Secondary (Safeties/CBs), LBs, D-Line, O-Line, and Special Teams. Thoughts?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Shane, I love it. So much of this game is about teamwork and all three phases working in conjunction. I would not eliminate the MVP. We have this discussion on our Sirius show from time to time. The best starting corner combo..Best DT tackle combo etc. It is a lot of fun...
  • junius fields, baltimore

    2:37 PM ET

what happens if the super bowl ends in a tie after overtime under current nfl rules
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Juniius...If you lose the toss go cover a kick and then play defense. I love the rules the way they are. All season long I listen to coaches talk about the importance of all three phases...So in the championship game it doesn't matter as much...Leave it alone. In the Colts playoff loss at San Diego last year, how many 3rd down conversions did the Colts give up in overtime? Are we supposed to say that doesn't matter? Now we need to give the Colts the ball back. STOP SOMEBODY.
  • Mike, Oak Grove

    2:39 PM ET

Why is the NFC EAST always so close. It seems like year after year at least two NFC EAST teams make it into post season.
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

I think the division philosophy has always been a physical brand that puts a premium on running the ball. I know the Eagles pass more than they run, but a lot of their passing game is designed as a run. When you play that style within the division it prepares you for anything. And weather doesn't effect defense. Heck, in this decade they have sent three teams on a couple of occassions.
  • freddy, tx

    2:42 PM ET

when do we see ramses barden getting some game snaps? and is cc brown ever gona cover somebody?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Freddy, Barden will start getting snaps when the coaches feel that he is ready. There is more to play WR than just being tall. The corners and safeties in this league know how to re-direct off the line. If he doesn't know how to use his size effectively then the size gets negated. WR play is the least of their problems right now. CC hasn't played well and teams have targeted him, no question.
  • Bob, Connecticut

    2:46 PM ET

Would you fire Bill Sheridan, DC of the Giants?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Bob. Give the man a chance. The players have made their share of mistakes here. As C. Banks said you can call all the great defenses you want. But a missed tackle is a missed tackle and not keep your gap control is nothing more than players not executing an assignment. Coach Sheridan has also taken responsibility as all good coaches do. I believe he will get them going in the right direction.

    2:50 PM ET

BP: I think you missed the point of Junius' post...would the NFL be comfortable with a SB ending in a tie under the current rules?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Shane, I'm sorry. In the postseason overtime continues until the game is won. I'm assuming that was his question.
  • Justin, Missouri

    2:51 PM ET

PLEASE ANSWER!!!! Could vick go to the dolphins at the end of the season?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Justin..Why? I think Chad Henne is going to be a very good QB and Pat White can throw the football. He's your wildcat option. Michael Vick is a project at this point as far as trying to re-build his game. Vick is in the perfect place at this point in his career. But I don't see Miami as a future spot.
  • James, UK

    2:55 PM ET

Do you think a franchise in London is a realistic possibility?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

James. I think someday it will happen. I have been so impressed by the fans support, not only in the UK, but Germany. The crowd in Frankfurt for the final NFL Europa Championship was awesome. But I think we are quite a while away from a london based team.
  • Joe, Hawaii

    2:58 PM ET

Hey Papa, what will it take to get the Packers in the playoffs?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

An improved o-line that stays healthy and a more consistent running game.
  • jesse, md

    2:59 PM ET

    ever hear of Don Hutson?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Yes, and Peter King will be angry at me for not including him in my Ochocinco post. You got me Jessie!

    3:00 PM ET

DO u think the broncos still own the division despite the loss? i know theres still alotta football left to be played but do u think they can keep it up?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Tim I think they are winning this division this year. I was on Total Access with Rich Eisen last spring he he asked me who I thought would be a surprise this year. I said Denver. (I never expected this start) But they changed a lot of defensive players and they brought in Mike Nolan. Plus they drafted a running back and signed Buckhalter. That told me that they wanted to be more balanced. That is a good sign as the season moves along. I'm concerned about the Harris injury but this team is built to survive. Last year they were an accident waiting to happen.

did randy lerner make a bad choice in mangini? i know you have to give him time but the organization seems to be falling apart
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Carmen. They need to let Mangini ride this out. I know it is unpopular but he gave the owner a vision in January of what he believes a Cleveland Browns should look like in his system. He is gutting the house right now. Go to NFL.com's draft history and look at his 3 drafts with the Jets. Ferguson, Mangold, Leon Washington, Revis, David Harris...He can identify talent. I like his first three picks this year with Clev. If you blow him out you are starting over yet again and that sets you back 5 more years.

    3:09 PM ET

Hey Bob what do you expect of the Saints? are they really going to win in the playoffs, defense wins in posteseason...
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Tony I believe so as long as Mike Bell/Pierre Thomas stay healthy. That was their formula when they made it to the NFC Championship. And this defense is better.
  • Jonathan , Frederic, WI

    3:10 PM ET

Who do you think will be league MVP?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Hard to bet against Peyton Manning right now. Drew Brees has been awesome as well. Someone asked me earlier about my rookie of the year pick: Percy Harvin.
  • rich, florida

    3:11 PM ET

whhy do u nfl network guys putting down the Eagles you know they will be the last team standing
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

I'm not putting them down. I think they make it to the playoffs. 5 division titles in 10 years. Plus they always play great down the stretch. But none of these teams are flawless.
  • Darrin, Yuba City, CA

    3:13 PM ET

Hi Bob, I listen to you all the time early mornings on Sirius- thanks for your work! My question is- what can Josh McDaniels do to get Denver to forget about last Sunday and focus on the Champs?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Darrin remember where he comes from. New England. They are masters at learning from their past game and focusing only on what is next.
  • James, Tampa, FL

    3:15 PM ET

Why does the Saints get so much praise about being 7-0, when they only played mediocre teams so far. The only test was against the Falcons and they almost screwed that up. Even the Dolphins almost killed them.
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

But the Dolphins didn't kill them. The Saints overcame adversity and won. They beat an undefeated Giants team that has been to the playoffs 4 straight years and they won at Philly. They deserve the praise they get. But as Sean Payton cautions, there is a lot of season left. Nobody is handing them a trophy but you must acknowledge what they are doing.
  • Tom, Nashvegas

    3:19 PM ET

Papa! Hows it going? Chris Johnson says the Titans will end up 10-6. What do you think?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Safe prediction. After their start, if he is wrong will anybody remember. If he is right he looks great. You want your guys to have supreme confidence in their team. We'll see if he's Joe Namath or Patrick Ewing as far as the predictions go.
  • Kenny, California

    3:21 PM ET

Is matt ryan hitting a sophomore slump?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Kenny, I don't think so. Teams have had a year to study him. Plus they haven't run the ball as well as they did last year. Monday night was a good sign with Turner. If Jenkins doesn't drop that ball at the 10 might be singing a different tune. Tip you cap to Vilma. He made a great play on the Porter pick.
  • Timothy , Madison, WI

    3:23 PM ET

Who do you think will win the NFC North?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Timothy Minnesota is the best team in that division. You can talk about all of the toys on the outside, but their o-line and d-line are the best in the division and they have the best running game. That's where the games are won and lost.
  • Mike, Aspen, CO

    3:26 PM ET

Bob, you're once of the best boxing commentators out there. What are the similarities between the sweet science and football? Any NFL players out there in your opinion would make a good practitioner?
    Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

Mike...I'm still on HBO's Boxing After Dark. Do you know something about my boxing future that I need to be made aware of? The similarities have to do with footwork. If you don't have that in boxing your toast and the same for football. Plus both sports are such a physical drain. Can you process your mental assignments while physically exahusted and hurt? I have seen Brandon Jacobs in the gym and he would have made a very good heavyweight. But the financial security in football is a lot better!
  • Bob Papa, NFL Network

    Bob Papa, NFL Network

It has been fun answering your questions for the past 90 minutes. The time went fast and I look forward to doing this again. Don't forget a week from tonight its Thursday Night Football on NFL Network. Can't wait for the Bears and Niners. Heck I can't wait for this weekend's games. Thanks again. Enjoy your football everybody!
