Mike Martz, NFL Network
Hello everyone. What a great Week 10. I'm ready to talk some football, so let's get to your questions. -
JB, Boston
7:07 PM ET
Lots of noise about Belichick's 4th down call. However, the bigger mistake IMO was not just letting the Colts score after they got the ball back so the Pats could have the last chance to win since a field goal would have still won it for them. If you make the first call wouldn't a good coach have thought through the 2nd part Thoughts?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
I think it's an accurate observation JB. By making that first call, you have to be prepared to make that second call and try to get the ball back to have a chance at the end. -

I think the Bengals are for real and good enough to win it all. what do you think?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Hi Robert. They certainly are, in all phases, as long as they keep Cedric Benson healthy and playing like he has all season. -

Hey Mike, how do you like the Chargers now that they have beaten some very good teams? think they are playoff bound? And who wins sunday Chargers or Broncos
Mike Martz, NFL Network
I think the Chargers will be in the playoffs, and they have a good chance of winning the division, particularly if Orton is out for any length of time. They're not as talented as people like to believe, though. Norv has done a great job.
I think they have a good chance of going into Denver and winning that game. -

Cutler's 5 INTs... He leads the NFL in INTs now.. The team is on a skid.. At one point do you bench him?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Hi Greg. If he was responsible for those 5 picks, I think you have a real issue. But a receiver falls down, a receiver quits on a route ... those kinds of things have happened too much this season to Cutler. The Bears can't protect him very well, either. But, certainly, he's made his mistakes too. But these turnovers and interceptions are a team effort. -

coach, after this terrbile and devasting lost, the patriots are still contenders?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
That devestating loss happens often to really good teams. It happened to us in 1999 with back-to-back losses, and we were still able to win the Super Bowl. Don't count the Patriots out, Juan. Adversity tempers good teams like a fire tempers steel. -
Greg, SF

You coached Vernon Davis. This year he's finally breaking out. What's the difference between the VD of last year and the VD of this year?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Maturity and confidence. He's just a wonderful young man to be around, and though there's a lot of bravado with Davis in years past, confidence and maturity in the passing game was just not there. Vernon Davis has arrived. -

Hey Mike! I have one question for you. Do you think the 49ers can make the playoffs this year?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Sure they can, but more than likely it will have to be a Wild Card. They're just too good on defense to dismiss them. -
Robert, san Antonio, TX
7:15 PM ET
mike, I really enjoy your commentary on nfl network. Do you want to coach again? my jets are driving me nuts! The defense cannot finish games. At this point I would take 8-8!
Mike Martz, NFL Network
I do want to coach again. The Jets are building a really strong team. The adversity they're going through now will build an excellent football team in the future. -
Jay, Boston
7:16 PM ET
If the Patriots got the first down when they went for it on 4th and 2, do you believe people would be criticizing the decision as much?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
No! No one would criticize the decision. Because Bill would have been right, like he normally is. After looking at the tape and seeing the defense melt down at the end of the game, Bill was probably right for doing what he did. -
Kokomo, Fremont, CA
7:18 PM ET
Raiders are in trouble. Will any good coach ever go to the Raiders?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Probably not Kokomo. -
Joe, Texas
7:18 PM ET
Is Josh Freeman part of the solution in Tampa?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Josh has surprised me. He's better at this point than I gave him credit for. He's looked like part of the solution in what he's done so far. He's worth getting excited about. -
Bob, michigan
7:19 PM ET
coach evaulte Matt Stafford for me thanks
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Hi Bob. Matthew is going through right now what a lot of rookie QBs go through on bad football teams. He's going to feel the burden of trying to win a game by himself, with a very poor supporting cast. It's hard to know for another couple of years how good Stafford really will be until they get better around him. -
Paul, Fayetteville, NC
7:21 PM ET
Hi Mike, Do you feel that the Carolina Panthers have found their key to success with the running game? Do you feel this has helped calm down Delhomme and his INTs?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
It takes a lot of pressure off a QB when you're playing defense and running the ball as well as the Panthers are right now. They're protecting Delhomme much better now than they were at the beginning of the season. -
Jon, UA
7:22 PM ET
So now that the Colts beat the Patriots, would you say they are the best team in the league?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Hi Jon. It's hard to discount New Orleans. But the Colts sure make a strong argument. I think what Peyton showed in the final minutes of that game, the only other team capable of doing anything like that is New Orleans with Drew Brees. It's hard to say. -
Francisco, Mexico City, Mexico
7:23 PM ET
Hey Coach, Holas from Mexico! Coach what do you think of Chad Henne and the Dolphins offense so far? Is he the long term answer as we all expect him to be?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Hola Francisco! I think Henne has a great chance of doing that. He's played remarkably well. I like this young man a lot, he's a good player. -
Waylonk , Washington
7:25 PM ET
why is everyone so surprised Vince Young doing so good.
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Probably because of the way he was in such a funk, that's the image everyone has of Young right now. People grow and mature, and I think that is what has happened here. I think he has a better appreciation for what he has in the NFL right now than he ever has. That's called maturity. -
Jeff Harmon, NORCAL
7:28 PM ET
Hey coach, what is your opinion on the Bengals talking to Larry Johnson, this guy seems to be nothing but problems lately. Do you think a change of venue would help him?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
Obviously it did with Cedric Benson. I think given a second life in Cincy, Larry may, if he's smart and mature, he may appreciate a second chance, if this comes to fruition. If that happens, I hope they're strong enough in the locker room to withstand another personality, so to speak. -
Mike B, Washington, D.C.
7:30 PM ET
I know Coach Belicheck is getting a lot of heat from this play call. But how does a coach justify that call? The situation didn't fit a reason to go for it; the Colts D was playing tough D in the final 7 minutes of the game. How does he justify this and how can people say it was the right call?
Mike Martz, NFL Network
You're right, the Colts were playing tough D. Conversely, the Pats had run out of gas on defense. They had given up back to back drives of 79 yards in two minutes or less, and after those two drives, they were gassed. The chances of them holding up on another drive probably weren't good.
Looking at this, superficially, he should have punted. However, on the sideline, knowing your defense is gassed, you can't count on Peyton Manning to make a mistake on the last drive. So what he did is play to win it, and not to keep from losing it. At first glance I would have punted, but after looking at it, I'm not sure I wouldn't have done exactly what he did. -
Mike Martz, NFL Network
