Hello everyone. Glad to be back here. Hope you guys are having a great week. Very excited to get to Carolina for our Thursday night game, and to hear what's on your mind. Ok, let's get it going.

Jason, what is going with my Falcons??? Do you still think they have a chance for winning season based on their resent performance in last weeks game?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Well, Matt Ryan is struggling some, their smaller corners have been picked on at times, the pass rush has been erratic, and now, just when the running game was looking awesome, they lose Michael Turner for what's looking like at least two weeks. That's tough. But fear not, they're right in the hunt and Ryan will turn things around and the future there is very bright. Great front office. They're headed in thye right direction. Need to get Sam Baker back quicly and they have a very tough task this week with the Giants, but I expect the Falcons to be in the Wildcard race til the end. Lot of football still to be played. Keep the faith.

Any word on the injury to Cedric Benson? And will he start this week?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

It's a muscle injury around the hip area and will likely come down to Sunday morning. They have plenty of depth at the position now with Johnson signing there, so there's no need to risk it. Playing a poor team they should handle, and perhaps could risk the roster spot by dressing Cedric, but only using him if need arises. Final word won't come until the weekend. Sorry about that.

Hi Jason Who do you think will win. Colts-Ravens
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

You have to favor the Colts. Ravens offense stumbling and their defense has taken a major step back this season. Very vulnerable secondary and pass rush poor, and that was before Suggs got hurt. Ravens need to get back to the ball control offense of a year ago and ride that where it takes them. Colts are flying high. Crowd will be nuts and maybe they find a way to pound Manning and control the clock, but it's hard not to favor the Colts strongly right now.

    1:05 PM ET

Jason, is there ANY chance the Bears will try to get Derrick Brooks?...or Jon Runyan?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Doesn't look like it. They thought long and hard about Brooks months ago, but at this point with him being so long it's highly doubtful they'd go that route, even if another LB got hurt. Haven't heard much about Runyan. Pace should be okay this week. Runyan has some serious health concerns that may prove too much for teams to risk.

Buy or sell Ricky Williams vs the panthers thrusday night? Brown is out and the panthers are 25th in rushing defense.
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

You have to buy it. He's having a great season and he is the go-to guy now with Ronnie out. Panthers run D has been getting better, but they've lost so many DTs that it's hard to overcome. This is going to be an old-school bare knuckle fight out there with two very physical, run heavy teams going at it. Might not be high scoring, but should be great.
  • damgenius, Phoenix

    1:09 PM ET

What do you think of the idea of resting Benson and running LJ down the Raiders throat until he crushes them or breaks? LJ is a tough runner--the Bengals could rest almost everyone except LJ and still win that game. What do you think?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

That's what I would do. Keep Cedric up if you want, if it's a close call and he you may need him, but I err on the side of caution here bigtime.
  • Alex, England

    1:09 PM ET

HI Jason, AFC west who do you like?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

The Chargers look like the best team right now. They still have some flaws, for sure, but that's a poor division overall and the Broncos are fading. They lose Orton for any real stretch of time and it might really turn the tide.
  • John, Nashville

    1:10 PM ET

How do you see the Titans season ending.
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

I've been big on Titians and Vicne Young for a while now. They can't salvage the season but can certainly finish strong. I said on Total Access last week that I think they could get to .500 and I'll stick with that. I also see them giving the Colts a heck of a game and maybe even winning that one.
  • Keith, Ocala

Hey Jason 2 questions 1 Will Maurice Jones Drew make the probowl and 2 Are the Jagaurs Playoff Contenders now?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    1) He dang sure better. The Pro Bowl process is not something I am a champion of, and it's become a popularity contest at times. This guy is a stud and is All-PRo in my book. 2) They're right there, sure. Have to remain consistent and not let down against lesser teams, but their record puts them in the mix.
  • loris, switzerland

    1:13 PM ET

hi jason, the giants lost 4 in a row... can they turn things around now?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

I think so. Talking to some executives this week, lot of smart football people still think the G-men can win that division, and the Eagles and Cowboys have done them some nice favors recently as well. Eli's foot and Bradshaw's foot concern me, and overall health of defense as well, but I like them to make a statement this week against Atlanta and keep riding that down the stretch.
  • Cornell Green, South Carolina

    1:15 PM ET

Hi Jason Is Jake Delhomme Job safe in Carolina will he be back next year?????
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

He will definitely be back. Would have to pay him $12 million to go away in 2010. He'll be there. He has his confidence back and their passing game is improving and he's been getting reconnected with Steve Smith. Should they draft and begin developing a future starter - sure? But Jake will be there for a few more years.
  • Charlie, New Orleans

    1:16 PM ET

Hey Jason, Any word on how long Tracy Porter will be out? and do you think Chris McAlister has anything left in the tank to contribute in Porter's absence.
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Yes indeed. Did a blog on this last night for nfl.com: Porter has an MCAL and not an ACL, so good news there. He's out at least a month but they expect him to be good for playoffs. McAllister has had off field troubles and health issues, but he's a stud when right. He's a perfect fit for Gregg Williams scheme - big strong corner who can play on an island if need be. Nice pick up with Greer and Porter ailing (Greer likely a week away; Sharper could very well be back Sunday).
  • Ryan, Rochester, NY

    1:18 PM ET

Cowher the next bills head coach?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Would be totally stunned. Don't see that happening. Don't see any of the big name guys ending up there. I would be going after a Leslie Frazier or Mike Zimmer or Rich Bisaccia.
  • Kerry, Memphis

    1:20 PM ET

Do you think the Patriots going for it on 4th and 2 was just being cocky?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

I don't think it was cocky. It is who they are, it is very much in character for Belichick and Brady and I understand trying to win the game right there. Personally, I feel like you can't help Manning any more than you need to and giving him that short field was too much to expect the D to stop, so I wouldn't take that risk - especially getting to punt in a dome - but I wasn't surprised that Belichick did it. It's very much in his nature and philosophy and he's been right a heck of a lot in New England.
  • Brad, Dallas, TX

    1:22 PM ET

Hey Jason!! How do you see the redskins vs. cowboys game playing out this sunday?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

I think Dallas needs to jump on them early or this could get to be dangerous (a la Chiefs game). Redskins will run the heck out of the ball with Betts, and won't let Campbell drop back too0 much, because with Ware chasing him and an awful line in front of Campbell, it's a recipe for disaster. If it's a tight game and drags into the fourth quarter, I worry about Romo trying to do too much. The Cowboys should win and I am picking them to win, but a divisional game, at home, knowing how helter-skelter the psyche of the Cowboys can be, it could be a trap.
  • Bellichick, Boston

    1:24 PM ET

Jason, what gives with the media? Everyone says I am over the hill, or that I no longer have what it takes to win a Super Bowl because going for the 4 & 2 at my 28yrd line. If we would have made it everbody would have said what a genius I am. Do you think we can win the Super Bowl this year?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Coach, you will always be a genius in my book. Like I wrote a minute ago, in that situation - against that offense and QB in that part of the field - I wouldn't have done it. But I understand why you did and that's part of what makes you the winner you are. Over the hill? Who is saying that? That's crazy. I got your back homeboy (Annapolis and Baltimore are pretty darn close), and I picked you to win the Super Bowl, and said on Total Access last night that I think you have a better team than the Colts, so don't let me down. Buck up. It's all good.
  • Kyle, San Diego

    1:27 PM ET

    Where is Jim Fassel?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

COached this season in the UFL. Nearly got the Skins job a few years ago, but doubt he'll get that close again. Very good dude. He's done a lot of broadcasting as well.
  • Rubén, Mexico

    1:28 PM ET

Hey Jason, my question is what does the Browns need to be competitive in this league?? it´s annoying to be bother by everybody because I´m a Browns Fan and being a mexican guy where their favorite team are the steelers. I just want them to win, Thanks .
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

They need to execute Randy Lerner's plan and get a strong leader of football operations in there, let him set up the coach and personnel, keep people like Bernie Kosar, who has very little in terms of football management resume, out of any sort of decision-making loop and start over. I know you guys are sick of hearing it, and feel like a perpetual expansion team, but the hierarchy needs to change there. Ownership seems committed to this type of change, and, if done correctly, could be the start of better things to come.
  • Dana, Fresno

    1:31 PM ET

Will Fassel end up in Oakland?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Wow. Hadn't considered that. He wanted the job a few years back. A lot of people will not consider the position. Guess it could be possible. He's worked with a lot of good young QBs and obviously gettign Russell to be a playre is job No. 1 in Oakland right now.
  • Rashad, Russia

    1:32 PM ET

Why do not you like Colts that much? I know that they are a bit lucky, but did not Bill Parcel say once that you are as good as your record is, 9-0?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Nothing against the Colts at all. I have them No. 2 in my power rankings and said I think they will beat the Ravens. I just happen to think the Patriots could beat them in a playoff game if need be. They are a model franchise from the top on down. Have nothing but deep respect for the way they operate.
  • Ben, London

    1:33 PM ET

Who gets sacked more? Delhomme by Taylor/Porter/Wake/Anderson...or Henne by Peppers?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

That's a stacked deck mate - four guys versus one? An entire LB group, almost, versus one end. I'll say Henne gets sacked more than Delhomme overall, even with Jordan Gross out (and that's another brutal injury blow for the snakebit Panthers).
  • Bellichick, Boston

    1:35 PM ET

Thanks Jason, what a bunch of horse turd that I didn't have faith in my D. I had a faith in my D that is why I went for it. I'll dedicate this Super Bowl to you you deserv it, I know this is very unlike me.
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Sounds like a plan. Please be sure to mention me when they hand you the Lombardi. Peace out.
  • Larry Kirkman, North Carolina

    1:35 PM ET

If DC fires the Exec VP any chance Cowher goes to DC.
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Great to hear from you, buddy. Hope you are well. Not likely at all. Would be a very tough dynamic for him, with the whole Marty thing. His personality would not be a great fit there. People close to Coach Cowher don't see it, either. I keep hearing Gruden/Allen as the posible solution to the problems there, with maybe even Doug Williams running personnel. Would make a lot of sense. Guys like Shanahan not as enthralled by the job there. That duo could be best option. Daniel Snyder knows Bruce pretty well. Lot of mutual respect there and obviously the Redskins history.
  • Dylan, pittsburgh

    1:39 PM ET

who would you rather have coach your team jason. bellichick or tony dungy. both are great football guys. which would you rather have
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Wow, great question. Can't go wrong either way, but if you made me choose, I'd go Coach Belichick. Call em crazy but I loved the whole 2007 deal, with the massive point totals and never letting up and the swagger he brings to both sides of the ball. I'd lean that way.
  • Dana, Fresno

    1:42 PM ET

    Is that realy the Coach
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    I give it roughly a .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%chance
  • George, Orlando

    1:43 PM ET

Is Ted Thompson still in Green Bay next year?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

I think so. They have a lot of parts in place. First year in a new defensive scheme. Given one more offseason and draft they can be right there. I still like that franchise a lot in terms of getting bang for their buck. I wouldn't make a change.
  • Joe, NY

    1:44 PM ET

What do you think of the Jets signing Kyle Vandenboch, and kampmann for the packers this offseason, it seems like clearly gholston isnt the answer as an OLB, ive just about lost all faith in him
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Would not be surprised if they did something along those lines, but not sure either would be great fit in that 3-4 (Kampman not thriving in it right now). Rex Ryan is a master at fitting guys into unqiue roles, and the jets spend a lot of money and aren't afraid to make big moves, so I could see it possibly.
  • Matt s, Jamiaca

    1:47 PM ET

Jason with the slumping Nfc east and the redskins now at 3-6 do the have a chance at the playoffs
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    No
  • Jon, Huntington Beach, CA

    1:47 PM ET

Thurman Thomas said on Twitter that something else is going down in Buffalo today, and Jim Kelly told him that Ralph Wilson is willing to spend $$ for a quality football guy. Is Mike Holmgren a possibility?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Not sure he would want to take on that challenge right now, especially with other possibilities down the road like a management position in Seattle perhaps opening up, but if I'm the Bills are I'm going to go the big-bucks route, Coach Holmgren is right up there on my list.
  • Mauro , Fortaleza , Brazil

    1:49 PM ET

If you were going to start a franchise from 0.. Which player in NFL would you build your team around? Why?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

If' we're factoring in contracts, the business side, etc, I would think long and hard about Rodgers. Very, very cap friendly contract, great young QB, handled the impossible chore of being the guy who repalced No. 4. I'm a big Rodgers guy and I'm starting with a QB or left tackle, for sure.
  • Christopher, California

    1:50 PM ET

Will Jamarcus Russell ever blossom into a viable starter in the NFL, and will Darren McFadden ever be a real playmaker?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Don't see it happeneing, at least not in Oakland. Maybe an eventuial change of locale could spark something - players often need to turn the page at times before it all sinks in - but it's been awful bleak for both of them there.
  • Terrance D, Newark, Delaware

    1:52 PM ET

What upsets do u see in week 11?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Hmmm. Give me Titans over Texans. Maybe Buffalo comes out flying after the change there tops the Jags in a letdown game.
  • Shane, Sydney, Australia

    1:53 PM ET

How does working at NFL Network compare to the Washington Post?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Thanks for the question, Shane. It's similar in that both jobs were kinda round-the-clock and very intense, but now, covering all 32 teams, the challenge is immense. It really keeps you on your toes. I'm really enjoying the TV side of things and telling stories in a different way. Being at the games on the sidelines is awesome, a total rush, and so different from the way I covered games in my newspaper career. It's been an amazing experience and I'm very thankful for the opportunity. It's a cliche to say it, but it really feels like a family at NFL Network and NFL.com. Everyone in LA has welcomed me and been a huge help. Great team to be a part of.
  • francisco , visalia, california

    1:56 PM ET

is next year going to be an uncapped year?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

To this point it certainly seems like it. But stay tuned. The NFL and NFLPA have been negotiating regularly and you never know. Maybe something gets done before March, but Commissioner Goodell has said thus far that an uncapped year is a "strong possibility."
  • Kevin, Raleigh, NC

Whats the Broncos keys to winning on Sunday
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Get Elvin loose, force Rivers off the spot. Find a way to double Jackson without letting Gates run wild underneath. Be committed to the run game (especially if Orton is out, but even if he is playing but limited). Need to get the big-play element going, if off play action if nothing else, which has been missing most of the season.
  • Glyn, Wales, GB

    1:59 PM ET

Do you think Alex Smith is going to develop into a decent player after his first few inadequate years in the NFL?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

I think it's going to be tough. That's a team that will almost certainly be in the QB market, most likely through the draft.

    2:00 PM ET

What do you think of Lebron James Possibly Joining the NFL Erick Manginni said that he would give him a chance? The Story is on ESPN.
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

One of the more ridiculous things I have ever heard. Great PR by James to get his name out there even more (if that's possible) and get talking heads to keep talking about him, but ain't no way his NBA team will ever let that happen. Did Mangini really say that? Cleveland is something else right now.
  • Gabe, Miami

    2:01 PM ET

Who's your pick for thursday night's game? Dolphins or Panthers?
    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

I'm going to lean to the Panthers. Think they find a way to run at the outside backers, who are older, grind them down, persevere in the second half. Should be a good close game, and any fans of the run game will love it.

    Jason La Canfora, NFL Network

Well guys, my time is up. Thanks so much for stopping by and sorry I could not get to all the questions. You can find me on my blog on nfl.com, and also on twitter (jasonlacanfora). Getting more well versed in Twitter and will try to do a better job of keeping up with questions on there. Thanks so much and enjoy the games this week. Cheers.
