Ask Tony Dorsett
Tony Dorsett,OK everyone, after a Radio Row schedule fix, I'm here and ready to go. Glad to be with all of you to chat.
12:46 PM ETTony, What do you think are the Cowboys biggest needs this offseason?
Tony Dorsett,When I look at what they have, the team is pretty set. The secondary is tight, some of their linebackers may be getting a little bit older. I dont' think they're really hurting in any area. How about a place kicker? I think this team is really solid, Jeah.

12:47 PM ETDo you see another superbowl coming to the cowboys organization wtihin the next two years? If so do you think its up to the offensive line or Romo?
Tony Dorsett,I think the Cowboys are on track to do some wonderful things in the very near future. It would be awesome, obviously, if they were playing in next year's Super Bowl in the new stadium. They have the guys who can make some things happen. They're close.
It's a team effort. I dont' buy into it being about the offensive line or Romo. They did struggle a bit without Colombo. But Romo is their leader, no qauestion about it. He'll have to play well. But they have to play well as a team to get to the Super Bowl.

12:49 PM ETwill dallas ever win w/ wade phillips as the h.c.?
Tony Dorsett,I don't see why they can't. There are some things about Wade and his personality people don't get, but the players like him. That's key. If there's anything about him that maybe I don't understand is that he sometimes makes excuses for his players. If you get paid to do a job, do your job. There's no room for excuses. That's the way I see it.
Dave Christian, Pittsburgh
12:50 PM ETTD, If Coach Landry had used you more, you'd be the all-time leading rusher. agree or disagree?
Tony Dorsett,I think I would have had a good shot at passing Walter Payton, there's no doubt in my mind about that. But Emmitt got up pretty high, I'm not sure I would have gotten that far. But because of my running style and my size, coach Landry felt I would have held up. I'm not sure I completely agreed with not being used to prevent injuries, but I understood.
I think I would have had a chance at being the all-time leading rusher, but with the amount of carries Emmitt had, he'd still probably be at the top of the list.

12:52 PM ETDo you think Jim Caldwell deserves more credit for the Colts success this year, or is their success more a product of Peyton Manning and a team that was already successful when Dungy left?
Tony Dorsett,Good question Jason. It takes someone to be in there and keep these guys motivated, keep them focused, and keep things moving. There's a lot of things a head coach does. As a product of Tony Dungy, he was smart enough not to change anything. He kept it going. He's put his stamp on it, and he continues to put the guys in position to succeed. I admire that. Barry Switzer had a similar situation in Dallas, and got his team there the second year. Caldwell is smart.

12:55 PM ETTony, How does it feel to have so many teammates inducted into the Hall of Fame?
Tony Dorsett,It's a good feeling to see my teammates there. But, I think there are more that are deserving. For whatever reasons, they're not. Sometimes I think there's some type of conspiracy, I don't know. But it is great to see there are guys who are in "Football Heaven."

12:57 PM ETIn your prime...Could you beat Chris Johnson in a race?
Tony Dorsett,I'd wear him out! He'd be looking at elbows and shoe souls, because he'd be behind me. Chris can roll though, he has some good wheels.
12:58 PM ETTony!! What's Up?? What was your favorite game of all time that you played in?
Tony Dorsett,Oh man. Back in 1976, Three Rivers Stadium, Pittsburgh against Penn State. We finally beat them and went on to win the National Championship. Took us four years to beat them.
Jordan Huglan, Austin, Texas
12:59 PM ETWhat current running back in NFL do you find the most fun to watch?
Tony Dorsett,Adrian Peterson -- and this isn't to shun anyone else -- I love his passion. I got a chance to watch him in college, and I was at the Vikings-Packers game this season. I've met him on many occassions, but I never realized how fast he is. He's so strong, such a great guy, and has great passion. But I never knew how fast he was. Many people think Adrian is just a downhill runner, but he is has great vision and shake. The speed I saw? Wow. He's really got it.
1:02 PM ETwhats up tony!!!! i woul just like to let you know you are second favorite cowboy of all time, just next to captain comeback..... well here is my question.. how do you think the cowboys should use their incredible backfield???? and do you think we should trade "the barbarian"??... well thats all men thx you very much
Tony Dorsett,Alex, I'm not a big believer in backfield rotations. I really believe that a back gets better the more time he's on the field, because he can start to feel how defenses are reacting. Choice, he could be a starter on many other teams. Jones too. Barber is the starter, and I love his passion and the way he attacks defenses. I think he takes too many unecessary hits, though. But I do think the Cowboys need to decide on one player.
Tony Dorsett,To all you fans, thank you for chatting today. I'm sorry about the mixup earlier, but I'm glad I got to answer some of your questions. It's always great to talk with you. Thanks.
