Word Up NFL Nation. Give me what you've got! I'm here and ready. I'm also on Twitter at @takeospikes51 and I'll be on NFL Total Access today with Rich Eisen, Marshall Faulk and Michael Lombardi at 7 p.m. ET.

TKO!!! As a 49ers fan I love seeing you next to P Willis shutting down the run game. How many years do you feel you have left in the tank?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hey Justin. I would say about three more years. I'm just like a Benz ... when it hits 100,000 miles, that's when you start to get the best performance!

    5:34 PM ET

Do you believe that the 49ers have the pieces in place to finally win the NFC West division title this year?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hi Kosei. Yes, and not only that, but I felt like other teams in our division let some of their key players leave who were big contributors.

Yo! Takeo! I'm a HUGE 49er fan and a big fan of yours too! I just wanted to ask, what area do you think the 49ers need to improve on the most during the off season in order to make the playoffs or even the super bowl next year?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hey Thomas. I would say pass defense and our running game. I felt like we often got good pressure on the opposing QBs, but we need to finish plays.

hi Takeo, i would like to know how does it feel playing with Patrick Willis and how you have mentored
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hey Ruben. It's good to play beside a guy who is very talented, and who is also driven to be one of the greatest to play by the time he's done playing. To me, it's easy, because whenever I talk, he's like a sponge, trying to absorb all of the knowledge and everything I've been through.

Takeo What does the Defense need to do to get to the QB more?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hi Alec. What!? We were top-five in the league in sacks! If you have any recommendations, please send them over!

Last year you guys had multiple losses by 7 points or less, especially heart breakers versus vikings and colts. what do u believe it will take this season to reverse the tables and u guys come out with wins in those close games?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hi Rick. I think, first of all, it was bittersweet to experience those losses last year. So, now that the experience lesson is out of the way, we realize we have to become more mentally in-tune throughout the game, in terms of making the plays we have to make. That has to be our mentality -- we have to make the plays we're supposed to make.

What are you doing personally to get ready for this season coming up? Any aspects of the game that you are focusing on this offseason? Go Niners!
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hey JasonG. For me, its understanding the big picture and how everything unfolds on the field. That starts with film study early in the week and even sitting in with coaches while they make up the game plan. As far as offseason training, at this point in my career I know what my body needs to get ready for the season.
  • Matt, DK

    5:47 PM ET

Hi Takeo, big fan of you, what move has surprised you the most during this off-season?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hey Matt, what's up. I'd say I've been surprised at what Detroit has done. It looks like they're making an effort to upgrade their talent with Kyle Vanden Bosch, Nate Burleson, and then trading for Chris Houston.
  • Kyle, Canada

    5:50 PM ET

Yo Takeo ive followed you ever since your days in philly, whats it, like playing for one of the all time greats in mike Singltary? how much have you learned from him and do you have any tips for an aspiring linebacker?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Sup Kyle. It's a pleasure and an honor. Not only to play for one of the best that ever played the game, but to be guided by his leadership, as man, as well.
  • Mike, San Francisco

    5:52 PM ET

In your experience who do you think is the hardest running back to take down?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hi Mike. I don't really see anyone right now. But, earlier in my career, there was Jerome Bettis and Barry Sanders. Barry was just explosive. You would assume he would be in one place, and a second later he'd be five yards away. Jerome is just big. He was hard to wrap up, and once you did, you had to have leverage. He was like a beefed up SmartCar.
  • Jasu Samra, Union City,CA

    5:55 PM ET

Hey Takeo, if theres one quarterback you could have a free hit on who would it be?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hi Jasu. I'll go with the one who is in the way of our championship run next season. Fair enough?
  • Hector, Visalia, California

    5:56 PM ET

If you were in charge of the two 1st Rounds Picks of this year's draft, what would be your strategy for the 49ers?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

I would say offensive line and I would go for a two-for-one special -- someone who is a return specialist who can also play running back.
  • Libo, Hidalgo, TX

    5:58 PM ET

Good afternoon Mr. TKO. I love all the dances you do after a play. I was wondering if we're going to see any fresh material this upcoming season? Thanks.
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

LOL Libo. I'm going to dedicate this season's dances to all old-school dances. I'm going to take it all the way back to the 1970s, and then work back towards the 1990s. How about that?
  • jerry, san bernardino,ca

    5:59 PM ET

hello takeo how are why aren't the 49ers making any noise in the free agency it realy bugs alot of 49er fans please let them know
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Well, Jerry, I understand ... but you need to understand I just work there. That one is out of my control.
  • Andrew S, Gilroy, CA

    6:00 PM ET

What do you see yourself doing after football? Coaching possibly?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hey Andrew. I don't have a passion for coaching in the pros, as of right now. I love doing TV and color commentary or as an analyst. If I was to be in the pro level, I can see myself doing something in team management.
  • Liam, Garden Grove, California

    6:01 PM ET

Is Ladainian Tomlinson a fit to your team?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Sup Liam. I think he would be a great fit for our football team. But, I know he wouldn't agree -- he's not the type of player who is looked at to be a No. 2 back. The skills that LT has would be a great compliment to the great back we already have in Frank Gore.
  • kyle, Redbymn

    6:04 PM ET

Hi Takeo ...what were you thinking after that pass from Brett to Gregg Lewis for the game winner?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hi Kyle. Good question. I was thinking, "That $#@# did it again!"
  • Derek, Montgomery Pa

    6:10 PM ET

Why number 51? Any interesting story to it?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Actually, I wanted my number to be 55, but I couldn't because Renard Wilson had it before I got to the Bengals. So they issued me No. 51 -- they knew I could hit hard, and Bruce Coslett thought I could be a young Dick Butkus.
  • Zach, League City, TX

    6:12 PM ET

What do you think of Michael Crabtree? How good do you think he can get?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

I think the sky is the limit for him. It will all depend on him. In my opinion, as long as he stays humble, we all will see great performances out of him.
  • Tyler, Winnipeg Canada

    6:13 PM ET

Hey Takeo, big fan of yours. You and Willis make a heck of a tandem in the middle. I'm a huge fan of Michael Vick and think he would be a great fit for the 49ers. Now, I realize you guys have Smith and now Carr, but do you think Vick can start in this league for a team? Would he be a good fit for the 49ers? Good luck this season.
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

I think Vick will not only start again in this league, but he will evolve again into a good quarterback. People don't understand how difficult it is to be away from football that long. I remember when I tore my Achilles, it took me a long time to feel comfortable playing again mentally.
  • Terrance D, Newark, DE

    6:16 PM ET

We all know how Patrick Willis felt about David Carr, what do u think about the signing?
    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

    Takeo Spikes, San Francisco 49ers

Hi Terrance. Ask me that question again at the end of training camp. Let's see how things play out.
