    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

What's up, NFL Nation?! I know that several of you are chomping at the bit to discuss the draft and my latest mock draft. I can't wait to take on your questions. Let's get started...
  • Joaquin, Maui, Hawaii

    4:04 PM ET

Hey Mr. Brooks, in your last mock draft you have Suh dropping all the way to the Riders, what are the odds of that really happening?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Joaquin, I don't think that Suh will drop all the way down to #8. If he drops, a team outside of the top ten will swing a deal to get him. Suh is too talented for that many teams to let him pass, so don't expect him to fall past #5 on draft.
  • Greg Kraemer, Guelph, Ontario Canada

    4:07 PM ET

Bucky.. So now that Joe Haden has cleared up the questions about his 40 time.. where do you see him going?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Greg, Joe definitely answered the biggest question that scouts had on him following the Combine. With a 40-time in the mid-4.4's, he has cemented his status in the top 15 and may be a possibility for the Browns at #7, if Berry is off the board at the pick.
  • David, Sacramento,Ca.

    4:09 PM ET

Hay Bucky? I was wondering what do you think the chances are Javid Best be there for the 49ers in the 2nd round? Do you think the 49ers would take if he was there? Seeing is how they past on Deshan Jackson a couple years ago and he has the same explosive skills running and returning.
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

David, Jahvid Best would be a terrific addition to the team. However, they really like Glenn Coffee and I don't know if they would add another RB to their stable with a high pick.
  • rick, miami

    4:11 PM ET

do you really believe lb and wr are more important to the dolphins than drafting a safety like earl thomas whos ball skills could compliment bells tackling and davis's athletisism?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Rick, The Dolphins really need to address their OLB situation. Joey Porter is gone, and Jason Taylor is on his last leg. Therefore, I would expect the team to pick a pass rusher early to pair with Cameron Wake. I agree with you that Earl Thomas would be a great addition, but #12 may be a little high to pull the trigger on him.
  • Jose, Panama

    4:15 PM ET

Mr. Brooks, What makes Rolando McClain such a much better prospect than other players like Sean Lee, Josh Hull, Brandon Spikes, Pat Angerer and Daryl Washington? Would his production as a posible first rounder be far superior than the one of this guys in a 3-4 scheme?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Jose, Rolando McClain is at the top of the MLB because of his size, instincts and production. He has the ability to play as a 4-3 or 3-4 inside backer, and scouts love the fact that he played in a pro-style system at 'Bama. Those other prospects are good players, but McClain is a notch above them on most draft boards.
  • Shane, Delaware

    4:17 PM ET

Bucky, hope you're doing well. What are the chances that safety Earl Thomas could actually fall to the 24th spot for the Eagles to take him?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Shane, There is a good chance that Earl Thomas will be available at the Eagles' pick. Looking at the teams that need a safety, I would say the Browns, Dolphins and Texans are possibilities. However, the Dolphins and Texans have bigger needs, which may result in Thomas being available at pick #24.
  • jason, westwood

    4:18 PM ET

what happend to Brian Price on your charts.....Gil Brandt says he's climbing up the 1st round charts
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Jason, Brian Price is an intriguing prospect who could land in the 1st round. It really depends on what happens with Dan Williams. He is widely regarded as the #3 DT on the board, and how soon he goes in the draft could push up Price on draft day. There are several teams that need a player of his caliber, but he may not go until the end of the first round.
  • JUSTIN, CONNECTICUT

    4:22 PM ET

Hey Bucky... I know everyone is thinking OT, but can you see the Seahawks taking Berry at #6 if he is still on the board? Their secondary needs help as well, and they just let Deon Grant go. Also, what are the chances that they trade for Brandon Marshall this year, and what will it take if not the #6 pick overall? Thanks!!!
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Justin, The Seahawks have a lot of holes that need to be addressed. The team needs a RB, LT and pass rusher. Also, a S would definitely help their defense. With that in mind, it is important to recognize that LT and pass rusher are premium positions, and you have to take guys at those positions high to secure the top talent. Therefore, I would expect the 'Hawks to nab their LT at #6 and try to come back to pick up Spiller or a pass rusher at #14. Spiller is high on their board, but taking a RB within the top ten hasn't paid off in recent drafts with the exception of Adrian Peterson.
  • Andrew , Tronto

    4:26 PM ET

You have Bradford at the top of your list of top 25 prospects along with many others yet a month ago Suh was the unquetioned no. 1 Sam Bradford did not through at the combine and not thrown at his pro day and Suh has been good at both these events so why is Bradford No.1
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Andrew, Good question. The reason Bradford goes to the top of the charts is a combination of his talent and the premium on the position. When you have a chance to grab a QB with "franchise" potential, it outweighs the value of other positions. Also, scouts are looking closely at 2008, and they are realizing that he was probably the top QB last year. Given those factors, his dramatic rise is not really a surprise.
  • Kz 'Buzz' Zand, Naples, FL

    4:29 PM ET

What are the realistic chances that the Tampa Bay Bucs will have a solid DT (i.e. McCoy or Suh) available by pick 3? Or, do you believe that they'll have to trade up to get 1 of those prospects, who in my opinion, will be a focal point for Tampa Bay's future cover 2 defense?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Buzz, I believe the Bucs will have a great chance of landing a DT to become the centerpiece of their defense. McCoy or Suh would be great fits, but I think that McCoy would be the choice if both were available. His style of play fits the scheme well, and he could play the role of Warren Sapp in their scheme.
  • Jake, Burlington

    4:31 PM ET

Refering to Andrew from Toronto's question, then with that logic why is Jimmy Clausen only at 22, most see him as a possible franchise QB?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Jake, Clausen has outstanding talent, but questions persist about his attitude and leadership skills. Scouts want to make sure that he has the right personality to lead a team. Now, he could turn out to be a better pro than Bradford because he has spent more time in a pro-style system, and his game translates well to the pros. He may experience a dramatic rise up the charts, as the draft nears because evaluators may realize that he has the goods to get it done.
  • Brian, Ottawa ,Canada

    4:35 PM ET

If the vikings are able to draft a quality corner at # 30 as you have forecast , would they move Winfield to safety and solve that deficiency as well.
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Brian, I think that Winfield would stay at CB. Good defenses need to have 3 solid CBs due to the extensive amount of nickel defense that is used in the pro game. Depending on Griffin's health, the Vikings' top choice will not only play on sub-packages, but he may emerge as the starter on opening day.
  • mike, nj

    4:38 PM ET

I love the pick up of Antrel Rolle, but why haven't the Giants signed an experienced LB? Blackburn, Goff.. they are not the answers to Pierce's void.
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Mike, The Giants patience with signing a veteran LB stems from their decision to wait and see what happens during the draft. If they are able to get their targeted LB prospect during one of the early rounds, they may not get back into the free agency market to grab a LB. However, if they fail to land a top guy at the position, they will quickly sign a veteran to shore up the spot.
  • Josh, SC

    4:40 PM ET

So, Bradford (who was hurt all last year and undeservadly won the Heisman and lost the National Championship) and Clausen (Who ran a pro-style offense even though the team was moderately successful) are ranked higher than a natural born, proven leader on and off the field who had tremendous success with a heisman trophy and multiple national championships in Tim Tebow because of his "throwing motion"? Logic my friend...logic.
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Josh, I love Tim Tebow's intangibles, but he has flaws that major concerns when evaluation the position. He has a long wind up and release, and doesn't have a great feel for reading defense. Though he is a great athlete on the college level, he lacks the speed and quickness to run away from pro defenders. Therefore, he will be judged on his ability to play the game in a conventional manner. I think that he can eventually do it, but he will need time to develop the skills to be an effective pocket passer.
  • Rob, Florida

    4:43 PM ET

With two or three other good prospects available at the position (particularly with Mt. Cody having lost some weight), do you think there's really any chance that the Bills will go NT instead of LT with their first pick?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Rob, The Bills will look hard at QB and OT at the #9 pick. The talent drops off dramatically after the first round, and if they will not land the same kind of quality of they wait until later rounds. Although NT is a priority, the draft is deep in DTs and they can land a starter in the 2nd or 3rd round.
  • Jordan, Philly,PA

    4:46 PM ET

Bucky now that the eagles have Tapp will they still pick a DE in the first round or will they focus on a different position?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Jordan, They will look to shore up another position. Tapp gives them an athletic rusher to use opposite Trent Cole, and the team can look to address their S situation with their pick in round 1.
  • Brian, Ireland,

    4:48 PM ET

Josh, do you think that the Giants paid way over the odds for Rolle, i know they were short in that position last year, but it seems to me that they are just throwing money at the situation in the hope it will fix it. What do you think?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Brian, It remains to be seen whether they overpaid for Rolle, but he addressed their biggest need and his value on the open market dictated enormous contract. Regardless, he is a really good player who will add some playmaking to their secondary. He is a rangy player with a knack for making plays on the ball, and the Giants desperately need a ball hawk in the back end.
  • Kyle Preston, Temple, Texas

    4:51 PM ET

Bucky, I was wondering how Taylor Mays has seemed to drop so far in your mock draft? He is the most physical speciman and runs a 4.45 40 at 230 pounds? What are his chances falling to Dallas?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Kyle, There are serious concerns about Mays' cover skills and instincts. While he is an athletic freak, his athleticism doesn't always show up on tape and that may lead some teams to opt for better "football" players at the position.
  • Steve, NY

    4:52 PM ET

Hey Bucky. Do you think the falcons overpaid for Robinson? How good will he be two years removed from that injury? Will he bring the falcons back to the playoffs?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Steve, You have to overpay for the top guys in free agency. Robinson is a good player, but he is not a "shutdown" corner nor a Pro Bowler. He fits well within their system and has the potential to upgrade their secondary. Whether he eventually makes enough plays to justify his hefty contract will be a subject of debate for years, but he is clearly a better player than the previous corners the Falcons have trotted out in recent history.
  • James, Charlotte, Nc

    4:56 PM ET

Brookman, How you gonna throw Pierre-Paul from 3rd overall to 26th? Having him go 3rd in ur first mock was somewhat ludacris but on a realistic level how can you have the pass rush needy teams between the 16th and 25th picks passing on this guy?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

James, Here is what I've learned about Pierre-Paul. He is a "one-year wonder" who tallied 6.5 sacks during his only season at South Florida. Though he flashes outstanding athleticism, he is very raw as a player and will need some time to develop a series of counter moves to complement his speed rush. In addition, he doesn't have a lot of experience in the game overall, and teams have some concerns about his football awareness after sitting down with him at the Combine. He may turn out to be a great player, but his red flags will cause some teams to hesitate before pulling the trigger.
  • Brian, Maryland

    4:59 PM ET

If the Skins draft LT at #4, and Okung likely gone to the Lions, who do you think will fit best in Shanahan's zone blocking scheme? Is there a chance we try to grab Suh or McCoy if they're available?
    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

    Bucky Brooks, NFL.com

Brian, That's an interesting dilemma. The Redskins would definitely think long and hard about adding Suh, but it would come down to which player would help more in the immediate future. In my estimation, one of the tackles would give them a bigger contribution and alleviate some of the pressure on Jason Campbell in the pocket. Trent Williams would appear to be a great fit in their zone-blocking scheme.
