NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche checks in for a live chat on Thursday, March 18 at 2 p.m. ET, taking your questions on the latest buzz from around the league.

What is up people? Sorry for missing the noon appointment but late is better than never. I am here for you and I hated to leave you hanging but let's have some fun and do it big. Holla at ya boy!
  • Nathon, Toronto

    5:05 PM ET

Steve! I noticed that you were supposed to chat at noon, you still recovering from St. Patrick's Day?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Nathon, I know man. No St. Patrick's Day celebration for me though. I spent St. Pat's at the Tennessee Pro Day then driving 3 1/2 hours back home to hang. I missed out because I actually thought I was doing this tomorrow. But that's my bad. My apologies -- and thanks for noticing! My man.
  • Garrett, Mount Airy, NC

    5:07 PM ET

What is the chance of Taylor Mays going to the Saints? And if he doesnt work out at S, the Saints need help at OLB any chance of that?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Garrett, Good question. Mays is a spectaular athlete but there are a lot of different opinion on him as far as the dual cover-hitting safety that a lot of teams like to employ. The Saints alreads have a physical safety in Roman Harper. I also think Sharper will be back but I do think they will draft a safety at some point. This is a good safety draft. I would expect New Orleans to look more at OLBS since they lost Scott Fujita to Cleveland in free agency.
  • Matthew, Toledo, OH

    5:09 PM ET

Do you think the Green Bay Packers might draft someone on defense in this first round of the draft to help out against the passing game? They got pretty beat up in the middle of the field in certain games last year like against the Steelers, Vikings, and Arizona.
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Matthew, Good question. I have spoken to some folks with the Packers and I got the indication that they are looking to get an offensive tackle. If some of the better tackles aren't there though, they won't over reach and will draft the best player. If that is a safety or someone to help in the pass rush, I wouldn't be surprised. Don't be shocked to see them select a running back either.

    5:11 PM ET

whats up steve, im a huge cincinnati bengals fan and i want to know, who do you think the bengals should draft in the first round. Even though we signed about four recievers since the offseason started. who should we take at the #21th pick
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Jameel, Who Dey? I think they have to go with the best tight end available. They are old at the position and Chase Koffman is an enigma who could be a flex tight end or someone who just doesn't fit. If they don't go tight end, I could see them looking hard at a safety or maybe a wide receiver like DeMaryius Thomas, if he's there.
  • Will, nc

    5:13 PM ET

What is going on with the Seahawks? They have made some questionable moves so far...are they good or bad and where do you see them going in the draft?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Will, what you are seeing with the Seahawks is a personality change that often comes with the overhauling of a new staff. The West Coast offense is being bagged, as is some of the defensive philosophy. That's why you've seen so many moves. I know a lot of people are eager to see if Whitehurst will push Hasselbeck. It's wierd but teams have been calling the Chargers about Whitehurst for years and they wouldn't give him up until now. I expect Whitehurst to get every shot possible to push Hasselbeck for the starting job -- unless they select a QB in the draft, which is very possible. As far as the draft, Seattle, which has two picks, has to get an offensive tackle. If they also don't use one of those picks on a QB, I could see them drafting a running back and I would not be stunned if it's Ryan Mathews instead of C.J. Spiller.

    5:17 PM ET

steve what can the bears do to help revamp there offensive line and receivers?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Larryl, not having a first and second round pick really hurts. Chicago is going to have to be draft some players and quality linemen can be found later in the draft. They just can't miss. The Bears might also have to offer up some current players or future draft picks in trades to maybe move up in the draft. They are not in a great spot here. More than anything, they'vee got to coach up who they have and hope Mike Martz's system allows protections and run schemes that favor the talent. I've seen radical changes simply by coaching. In 2007, the Atlanta Falcons offensive line was the worst in the NFL. A year later, with new OL Coach Paul Beadreau and a new scheme, pretty much that same group helped Michael Turner rush for close to 1,400-1,500 yards and kept Matt Ryan upright. There is hope.
  • Brian , Maryland

    5:20 PM ET

Why do most mocks have Suh or McCoy going to the Lions? The Lions have made a few moves to improve their D-Line, but still haven't made any efforts to improve the O-Line. Shouldn't their top priority be protecting Stafford instead of defense?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Brian, Good stuff. the Lions need a stud on the defensive interior and keep in mind, Coach Jim Schwartz is a defensive guy who once coached a guy named Albert Haynesworth. I think that's why the DT spot is being viewed so much the direction Detroit will take. I'm not ruling out them selecting Okung, the OT from Oklahoma State. Matt Stafford needs to be protected.
  • Alex, St. Louis

    5:22 PM ET

Mr. Wyche, if the rams really need a QB, why dont they trade down to Tampa Bay 3rd pick and still get Bradford and also get some extra picks from Tampa Bay. And then Tampa bay can have the power to choose they're DT at no.1 before Lions can get on the board. That way both teams can be happy and the rams can have more picks to fill in their needs.
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Alex from my Hometown (I'm a Parkway South Grad). I'm sure the Rams would love to trade down to No. 3 so they wouldn't have to pay that No. 1 money to Bradford. Neither does anyone else, which is why you don't see teams trade up to No. 1. Tampa Bay should feel very comfortable at No. 3. If Suh and McCoy happen to be the top two picks, they can select safety Eric Berry, who would be a huge help to that defense.
  • Charl, South Africa

    5:25 PM ET

hey steve. Any chance that the cowboys will draft a WR in the later rounds seeing as Roy Williams isn't the player he used to be?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Charl, There is an excellent chance Dallas chooses a WR. The Cowboys are talented at nearly every spot so they have the flexibility to draft the best player available. Let's say Dez Bryant slips (it could happen) or Demaryus Thomas falls to them, that could be too tempting to pass up. I see them looking at safety first, maybe Taylor Mays or Earl Thomas if he's still on the board.
  • spencer, Virginia

    5:27 PM ET

with the rex grossman signing what are the chances the 'skins draft a qb in the first round? and if they do, does shanahan really have more confidence in bradford after his shoulder injury. i know he is the top qb prospect but i have a really hard time investing in a guy who has already had surgery on his "golden ticket".
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Spencer, Good question. Don't get enamored with Grossman being a lock to be the No. 2 QB or to even make the team. I do think his arrival points more to Washington selecting an offensive lineman with the No. 4 overall pick, but it could still go with a QB. If not in the first round, I do think the Redskins will draft one at some point...As for Bradfod having shoulder surgery, keep in mind, Drew Brees did too.
  • Atanio, Lithonia, GA

    5:29 PM ET

Hi Steve, I'm thinking that the Falcons will be targeting Brandon Graham and Sean Witherspoon with the 19th pick. If both players are gone by then (which I doubt) do you think the Falcons will trade out of the first round to secure extra picks for later in the draft?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Atanio, Nice question. I don't think they would trade out if both guys are gone -- and I'm with you, I don't think they both will. They need to add depth at the very least to a lot of positions and there are some good players to be had at #19 that could help. If both are gone, don't be stunned to see the Falcons look for an O-lineman or a D-tackle again. There also are some other DE's who are pretty good who fit. They have to upgrade that position.
  • Jason, Fords NJ

    5:32 PM ET

Do the 49ers benefit from keeping and using both of their two first round picks or do you think they might trade one away and move up in the draft to take someone like Eric Berry or Joe Haden?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Jason, Love the question. I think it comes down to whether they have their hearts set on a certain player they might need to trade up to acquire. I believe they will use both picks, and solidify each side of the ball - with the first pick going on the O-line. Singletary wants to pound the football and wants a road-grading lineman to help him get there. Don't think they'd move up to get a DB because there is some quality depth.
  • Charlie Merrett, London, England

    5:35 PM ET

Hey Steve, love what you do. Do you see the Bengals making a play for either Shawn Andrews or O.J. Atogwe - both available players at positions of need? Cheers
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Thanks Charlie, I've asked a lot of teams about Atogwe and they feel that St. Louis will match any offer, which is why he's only received lukewarm interest. As for Shawn Andrews, a lot of teams are going to check him out. There are questions about his desire to play, which are never good questions, but offensive linemen (Chicago) are valuable and rare so I can see him playing in the NFL next season.
  • Brian, Tampa

    5:37 PM ET

If you were Buffalo what would you do with your first pick? Risk taking a QB with no o-line and no talent at wr (other than evans)? Help improve your o-line with an OT? or help strengthen their Defense with a NT like D.williams or LB like McClain?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Brian, I am going O-line all the way. Since I said that, they'll probably draft Jimmy Clausen. Here is the stunner: The Bills are really looking hard at some of the top RBs. While a lot of them could be there in the second round, don't be shocked..Well, be shocked, but it could happen.
  • Bruce, Rocky Mount, NC

    5:38 PM ET

What are the chances the Panthers trade DeAngelo Willims for draft picks? And could they get a 2 and a 3 or maybe 2 2s? San Diego would seem a good fit.
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Bruce, I don't see it happening. It could occur and the deal to San Diego makes sense, but if they move DeAngelo Williams after losing Peppers, Mushin and Jake, they will have gutted all the leadership in the building. There are already doubts about what's going on there and if they deal their first or second best player (Steve Smith is the other) then it could be really bad there....
  • Violeta, México

    5:40 PM ET

Hi Steve What do you think the Colts are going to do with the 31st pick Thanks for your answer
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Violeta, With them losing guard Ryan Lilja to Kansas City, it would seem as if they would draft an offensive lineman, maybe Marques (Sp) Pouncey of Florida a center/guard. However, Bill Polian always takes the best player. They are checking out defensive tackles and they could be looking at cornerbacks too.
  • Brian, Oslo, Norway

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Brian, I'm old school: Notorious Big on the solo flow and Tribe Called Quest for the best group! My colleague Kara Henderson is going to love me for dropping the Tribe in the chat. She's a big Tribe fan too!!! On that note, props to the person who finishes this Tribe phrase: Can I Kick It?
  • Darian, Mexico

    5:44 PM ET

Hey Steve, appreciate the time, What do you think the Vikings should do with their pick? Thanks and best of luck
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Darian, From what I am hearing, they are going running back or defensive back with their first pick. Don't know if it will shake out like that but they are kicking the tires on a lot of corners and running backs. Keep the name Chris Cook, a CB from Virginia, in the mental rolodex. Here he's moving up some charts. Big corner who can run and slide into the nickel spot.

  • Shashvat Patel, Baltimore

    5:49 PM ET

What are the chances of the Ravens trading up to get either Joe Hadden or Dez Bryant (tho we did get Boldin)? Also, what are the chances that the Ravens will trade away Jared Gaithers for draft picks?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Shashvat, First off, I don't see them moving Gaither. He is a very good player who will be around for years. The Ravens don't move good players, especially at that position...I don't see them trading up to get either player...Again, there is some depth at those spots. Baltimore is pretty savvy in the draft and if they do move up, they tend to move up only a few spots. I think Ozzie and the Gang will sit tight.
  • Matt, Rochester

    5:51 PM ET

Hi Steve. Do you see the Rams signing Feeley as an indication they will focus on Suh for the number one pick or do you think them picking up Robbins from the Giants was to fill the DL need and now they can focus on Bradford? Thank you for your time!
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Matt, I don't see them viewing either player as a potential starter. Those are guys who have history with Spagnuolo and they are depth...don't read too much into those signings in terms of what St. Louis does in the draft. I see Sam B being their guy at No. 1.
  • Eddie, Sonora, CA

    5:52 PM ET

Steve, who starts for the Broncos? Quinn or Orton?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Eddie, Orton, but that doesn't mean he finishes. McDaniels, I feel, is going to coach Quinn up. The rest is up to Brady to be good enough. Orton is the early frontrunner and he'll work hard to keep his spot. I just don't know if he's got enough to retain it.
  • Josh, Wellington FL

    5:54 PM ET

Steve which teams seem most interested with tim tebow after his pro day? and which team of those do you think he can go to?... P.S. IM IN SCHOOL
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Josh, Hard to tell. I wasn't at his Pro Day so I'm not sure. I would think New England would be a great fit. There's Jacksonville too but I'd look for a team with a second coaching staff and a solid veteran starter to check out Tebow pretty hard.
  • Joe, Boca Raton, FL

    5:55 PM ET

Hey Steve, Would the Jaguars be willing to go DE in the first round to boost their pass rush after selecting 2 in the 1st 2 rounds in the 08 draft? Wouldn't they feel like thy're admitting that they missed on both players that high in the draft?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Joe, you better believe they're looking DE. I don't think they care less about admitting that they might have missed. This staff needs to win games and if Pierre-Paul or Derrick Morgan fits, that's who they go for. I think Rolando McClain, the Bama LB, could be their guy if he's still there.
  • Jack, London

    5:56 PM ET

Hi Steve, If McClain is available at 15.. is there any chance of the Giants not taking him? Will he fit the Giants 4-3 defense?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Jack, if he is there, I can't see how they pass on him. He is a big-time stud. At his Pro Day, Tom Coughlin and Jerry Reese monitored his every move. It wouldn't shock me if they tried to trade up to make sure they got him. They need a Mike linebacker and McClain not only is a standout athlete, he's also one of the smartest guys on the field.
  • jack, illinois

    5:57 PM ET

do the bears get otagwe, shpherd and trade olsen for a 2nd or 1st rd pick?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Jack, I don't see them getting O.J. They could trade Olsen to get a high pick but I'm not sure the would find a team that will part with a first or second round pick for Olsen.
  • wayne, baton rouge

    5:58 PM ET

Where do you think Taylor mays will land?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Wayne, I'm not sure. A lot of people are convinced someone will take him in the first round. He has the ability to be great. There are just so many mixed opinions on him, there's an outside shot he drops into the early second round. If that happens, I can't see how Tampa would pass on him. Dallas could be a good fit.
  • Eric, Denver

    6:00 PM ET

Steve, Where, if anywhere do you see T.O. landing for the upcoming season? Any chance Denver show's any interest?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Eric, With what the Broncos have gone through with Brandon Marshall, I doubt it. Chicago would seem like a possibility to me. I wouldn't put it past the Vikings to give him a look-see.
  • Jon, St. Paul MN

    6:01 PM ET

Any thoughts on the Vikings picking up a QB in the second or third round to replace Favre next year?
    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

    Steve Wyche, NFL.com

Jon, You get the last question and it's a good one. I have heard that Minnesota is going to draft a quarterback at some point. Don't know if it will be in the second or third round but that is a definite possibility. There are going to be some decent QBs there.
  • Steve Wyche, NFL.com
