Hey everyone, I appreciate you guys coming with your questions and hanging out for the live chat. Let's get it going!

Hey Steve you had a great year last year, What did you do in this offseason to get ready and even better than last year?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Well, besides the standard offseason program with the Giants, working out four days a week with the guys, running and lifting, I also run hills in California and do different catching drills on my own. I use the juggs machine, do as much as I can to get ready for the grind of football season.

Congrats on setting the Giants single season record for receptions. What are your expectations for 2010?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

To win! My personal goals are just to stay healthy and play every game. Personal achievements will come. I'm really focused on donig whatever I can to help the team win, and have fun doing it.

Steve, What did u have to do to get #12 from Jared Lorenzen when you became a part of the Giants?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hey Ryan. Since I was a second-round pick, I had to pay him some cash! It was a pretty good number, so I guess that's one of the things you have to do when you get into the league and you want a certain number.

Growing up who was your favorite team? Favorite player?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hey Elias. Growing up, I was a 49ers fan, wieth Jerry Rice of course. I remember watching them destroy the Chargers in the Super Bowl. I was big into them. And then the 1998 Vikings with Randy Moss. When they lost I was really disappointed. My heart and soul was with that team.

    Steve, I love you!!

    LOL! Thank you Stephanie!
  • Brooke, Washington D.C.

    3:09 PM ET

How do you handle playing for a city like New York and not losing focus?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Brooke. Oh yeah. Coming from USC, it was a similiar type of atmosphere, and football wasn't the main attraction. Fans would boo if you weren't up to par, like they do in NYC. You have to win, really. I'm good at channeling in during football season and putting all of my energy into helping my team win.
  • Dylan Peters, Emerson, NJ

    3:11 PM ET

hey Steve,Who do u pick to win the nba finals?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Dylan! Well, like everyone else, I picked the Cavs. My pick is already gone. I don't even care anymore! I was so disappointed with them. I see Kobe out there looking like Jordan, he's pretty amazing.
  • Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

OK, time for some football questions....
  • Brian, Boston

    3:12 PM ET

Hey Steve, I'm a lifelong Giants fan and I love watching you play man! Do you see Ramses Barden being able to step up in his second year to compliment you on the other side?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hey Brian. Yeah, I do. I see him getting on the field this year and catching some TDs in the red zone and making some plays for us. He was a third-round pick, so I'm assuming they want to get him on the field to see what he can do.
  • Mark, Warsaw, IN

    3:13 PM ET

SS, What should we expect from Hakeem Nicks this season?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Mark. Man, just an even better season. he just scratched the surface last season. We've seen what he can do, especially after the catch. He's so good at that. I think he's on a mission to put up even bigger numbers next season.
  • Terry, Brick, NJ

    3:14 PM ET

Who on the Giants is going to have a breakout year this year, like you did last year?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Terry. Good question! I would say Ahmad Bradshaw, because I think the WRs will all progress, but Bradshaw is ready to take his game to another level. He had his ankles and feet worked on, and he has enough talent and enough ability to make some big plays for us.
  • Emil, Irving, Tx

    3:16 PM ET

Do you think the Giants running game will improve this year? I was really disappointed to see the run-game struggle so much last season. Keep up the great work Steve, you are my favorite NFC East receiver and your work ethic is amazing.
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Emil. Thank yo ufor the compliment! I think the running game will step it up next year. Last year, most of the problems were due to injuries along the line and in the backfield. Everyone is healthy now, and working extremely hard to get back to form to when we were leading the NFL in rushing.
  • Jim, Utica, NY

    3:17 PM ET

Hey Steve, who is the toughest corner you have ever had to go up against?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Jim. I would say Marcus Trufant of the Seahawks. He's good. Strong, and athletic. I was younger then, but he was a tougher guy I went against. And Asante Samuel always plays us tough. He's a saavy vet. I want to have a good game against Samuel and the Eagles this year. ... No predictions, though, LOL.
  • Patrick, Jersey

    3:19 PM ET

If you could describe your QB, Eli Manning, in one word...What would it be?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Patrick. Wow! That's tough. How about "driven."

He's definitely focused and determined to be great. Each year, he's gotten better. He's become more of a leader and has worked with us young receivers. He's cool to be around and talk to.
  • Zach V, San Antonio

    3:20 PM ET

What is your favorite route? How do you feel about Eli Manning as your quarterback?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hey Zach, cool question. I would say a slug-go. That's a slant-and-go. You can get the defender on his toes and make him guess. It's difficult to defend, and fun to run. When I hear slug-go in the huddle, I'm licking my chops, hoping for one-on-one coverage!
  • Roy Kohdam, Princeton, NJ

    3:21 PM ET

Who do you give credit to for teaching you to run good routes?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hey Roy. My high school coach, Troy Star. He really developed my game and taught me to take it seriously and the next level. I'm the California all-time leader in receptions and yards (btw, I love telling people that).

I credit him for helping me to extend my routes and teaching me to become a deceptive route runner.
  • Chris, Clovis, CA

    3:23 PM ET

Do you expect your little brother Malcolm to have a big year for USC? Fight On!!!
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Fight on! Yeah, I really do. It's only right. It's his senior year, and the coaches are excited about him. When I went to the spring game, they have amazing athletes at every postion. He can only get better. Look out for No. 28. He's going to be the next Reggie Bush!
  • Adam, West Chester

    3:25 PM ET

Trufant? Come on you played Nnamdi Asomugha...hes bigger, faster, stronger..he has to be high ranking, and btw who is your fav reciever in the league today??
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Oh yeah, Nnamdi is good. I'm not saying the other guys aren't good -- even those on my teamm. But when I played against Trufant in a game, he was very good. Maybe it was a bad day for me, but that's what came to mind. Nnamdi is good, Revis is obviously good, too.

Steve Smith is def one of my favorites. He's ridiculous. I like Torry Holt a lot. Guys kind of in my mold that I can watch. I always loved Randy Moss.
  • Q, Durham,NC

    3:27 PM ET

Hi Steve, have you ever joked with Steve Smith on the Panthers about who's the "better" Steve Smith @ WR??
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

We haven't yet. When I first met him, though, he said "Don't get into any trouble, because they'll put my picture up in the papers!" He's a really funny, competitive guy.
  • Joel, Kinston North Carolina

    3:28 PM ET

Hi Steve Do you have any special thing you do before a game!
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Nah, not really. I got rid of the rituals after high school. I used to have a blue Chicago shirt my mother had given to me (she's from Chicago) that I used to wear every game. But one game I couldn't find it, and I panicked, but I had a really great game. So I dropped it after that.
  • Jovie, Long Beach, CA

    3:30 PM ET

What do you think about Pete Carroll leaving SC for the SeaHawks?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Jovie. You know, it was a good opportunity for him. He did everything he could do on the college level, so he wantd to work on his legacy on the pro level. The NFL is a different beast, it's tough. Coach Carroll is a great coach, and hopefully good things happen for him in Seattle.
  • Q, Durham, NC

    3:31 PM ET

Hi Steve, My girlfriend last year was cheering for Philly...Can you PLEASE beat them next year so I don't have to hear her laughing at me this season????????????!!!!!
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Q, LOL! I will put that on the bulletin board for the rest of the team. We don't want any girlfriends laughing at their boyfriends because of us!
  • Holden, Richmond, VA

    3:32 PM ET

Which team in your division do you look foward playing the most?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hi Holden. Every division game is so competitive. Every game is fun. I look forward to them all ... you have to be ready for a shootout every game. I really do.
  • Tom,

    3:33 PM ET

What do you think of the addition of Antrel Rolle after playing against him and cardinals defense last year?
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Hey Tom. I'm really excited to have him on the team now. When we played him, he's such a good athlete. He picked one off in front of me to seal a win. I've seen what he can do. He has good ball skills, too. If Kenny Phillips can come back healthy, we have a great pair of safeties.

if we was to check your CD player in your ride, or I POD!! what song is on the top of your list right now!!!
    Steve Smith, New York Giants

    Steve Smith, New York Giants

Ah yeah Danny. I'm listening to Drake and Little Wayne, Jay-Z, kind of the norm for hip hop fans. I've been listening to Kid Cuddi too.
